Andeee
Hey there i am soon to be buying a new frame and i have been looking at the adamant a1 long. which is 1090 length and 25 b.b My frame which am running now is a echo pure 06.5 which is 1070 length and 10b.b. to be honest it feels really short and i fancy a change. I am 5ft 10 medium build would you reccomend this as a good frame to flick about. As my echo pure just feels too low and short to flick up. Need quick answers
Matt Burrows
Get the short! Best all round frame I've ever ridden. Really easy to handle, you can place it exactly where you want and its great fun to ride. It should have a longer reach than your pure which is the measurement you need to worry about. The wheelbase is misleading as a guide for length as it varies so much depending on the head angle and the forks. The long is seriously a canal barge on wheels, I'm 6'1" and every one I've tried has felt way too big. Unless your a full on natural/comp rider* I really don't think you need such a long bike. Long bikes just make street riding so dull in my eyes, great for backhopping but shit for actually having fun on.*Not saying the short is crap for natural BTW. I've done every round of the nationals on mine this year and loved every round.
Muel
I rode the Modstock version, it was really nice, the geometry was spot on for me, the only downside was the BB height was too low.I'm 5'11 and a medium ish build, your best bet is to try and have a ride on one if you can.My mate has an 07 pure which feels way to short for me, I think that's around 1070ish. I still find my self to cramped on the bike. It rode lovely when i got it but now that i have grown the geo feels to cramped. my bike now measures at 1080. I was just thinking that little bit extra b.b height and little more length might help. But i think i am gonna need more suggestions but thanks for your help. I mean everyone does have there own personal preferences.
grant_hundley
but the headangle on pures is like 71 degrees? which makes the reach a lot shorteran ashton (1055 wheelbase with 73 headangle) is similar reach to a long echo control (1080wheelbase with 72 head angle)steeper head angle makes the bike feel longer..long adamants are literally barges on wheels
Luke Rainbird
The '06.5 Pure has a 72 head angle, so the reach will be similar, if not a bit longerIf you get an Adamant, the short is the one to go for though
grant_hundley
ahhhh i thought it was 71 i'm thinking of the one with the seat
Luke Rainbird
The older one (with seat) was also 72 - the newer one is 71 or 71.5 though I think

Andeee
To be honest i am really stuck on what to do. theres only 1 degree difference on the head angle compared to my pure and the a1. theres only 5mm b.b difference compared to my pure and the short a1. the pure measures at 1080 wth zhi forks where as the a1 short measures at 1070 with urbans. I dont what will suite best for my riding style as in proper full on street like gaps, sidehops, drops etc.. I cant really ride one as no one in my area rides as theres only me and this other lad who ride trials in my town. Anyone got any videos of people riding both the short and long a1's just out of intrest? I mean i have rode a couple of frames in the past i rode a czar ivan long a year ago when a mate use to ride and that felt really long but i was 5ft6/7 back then and they measure at 1100 but he was using fatty forks. Soory to be awkward people but i really need to know what is going to be best for me. Thanks for all your help and time but more investigation is going to be required. I guess it would be too long for you though as most people I know who are around your height ride shorter bikes (like Matt above). The head angle makes a big difference to the reach which as Matt said is the best measurement to compare.

Matt Burrows
Bristol video, have a look at that if you want, not that it will tell you a lot about how the frames ride. First few clips are me, then its Max T (wearing brown T) on the long frame, then Fatmike on the short Modstock up to about 1min
