tmks88
you can try high intensity interval running (google for HIIT training)) if you find jogging boring, its more useful for trials too i think
Joe_Elding
Do real weight lifting, Clean & Jerk and snatch <- your gonna have to get someone to teach you these though. and inbetween that do as many front squats as you cann. Oh and no cheating, if you don't have good form you may aswell be at home wanking.

manuel
Im trying to be on the Dave Marshall regime of turning into a triangle by eating chocolate bars, crisps, high in fat sandwiches, and a shed load of carbs at tea time. The only thing I fail to do is not drink alcohol - must be why Im podgey and Dave is inhuman.Ride - and then ride more. The gym is for people who actually want to win (or maybe loose weight). Why waste time doing boring weights when you could be out riding

Why waste time doing boring weights when you could be out riding Because most of the time my bike is broke and I need to keep improving. If I don't train, I don't improve. Especially if I only get to ride maybe once or twice a week. But your not really human anyway, Rowan. The stuff you do blows me away. And now that I know you don't train for it. It's even crazier. kevinc
Polymetrics is what you need to do to train your explosiveness. Google it for some polymetric exercises.
Muel
I do weight training, but not to improve my riding, if you want to get better at trials, you have to ride as often as you can.Theres so much more to trials than stregnth, it's all about balance, coordination and fitness. Try setting yourself long sections that knacker you out by the end, then ride them over and over again.

Why waste time doing boring weights when you could be out riding haha gym is awesome, i hates it at first, but now i love italso you can cut the chances of "overtraining" by having glutamine, its in most protein shakes, and is available on its own from holland and barratt, jus helps recovery. i did a SOLID week of chest workouts back to back, and didnt ache too bad, and gained alot of strengthbut for trials ide say personally for the the most used muscles are:latsshouldersglutestricepsqaudscalvesbut it can differ, depends on youre style reallyi find the simple 5/6 sets of 10 startin with a lighter weightm building up the weight each set works bestjus put the muscles i named upthere^^ in youpube, then itl bring up exercises for it or ask at youre gymalso if youre a loonatic, do cardio, i personaly, cant b arsed, id rather f**k a dog in the arse (que someone maonin blink 182)
Aaron.Tottman
I agree with Ali C.BMX dose so much for you riding lets alone your upper body and upper legs.i use smallish weights (bout 10kg) as a warm-up before i ride, start riding with small bouncy moves moving onto bigger spinny moves.start with what you know then push your bounderies. J Trials 31
Thanks Damon, good to have your advice. I'm already getting a little bigger on some things. Haven't rode yet as my rear brake is wank right now, but I have went outside in my garden and started gapping stuff and jumping straight up onto things with no problem. ( on my feet that is) Just can't wait for my blood to get here so I can start riding again.

J Trials 31
Went riding on a BMX today as some of you suggested. Really good idea. If it wasn't for my tire that kept coming off the rim, I would have rode longer.Quite like my BMX, not really setup like most people's. I'm running Shimano V's front and rear, and a White Industries trials freewheel on the rear. So I can still do some trialsy stuff when I riding around town and hitting some stuff. The jumps he did were huge.Im surprised that this dude doesn't have more explosive static jumps with the weights he's lifting. never the less, he'd be one powerful rider. imhereithink
During my 2 year break from trials i was climbing atleast twice a week, when i finally got back into trials alongside climbing i didnt feel that bad, i still had alot of power that i thought i would have lost having not riden any bike for two years. But to my suprise it was all there, the dreaded arm pump hardly happens now, even when on natty. I think climbing is a great cross training aid as it is an all body work out and is purely bodywieght. Which means you get good power to wieght ratio, aswell as good stamina
