661 pro is pretty good, im using a nike one atm thats similar but offers a bit more protection from your ankle rolling over, but if you really want to stop that especially i would personaly buy one of these, link!! mate has one and its awesome, your ankle is just like solid to the sides, but movement up and down is still sweet and you can trials absolutely fine in it :) as you may have i guessed i completely fudged my ankle not so long ago and im like proper protective over it lol

You can really get the 661 ones done up tight. A mate of mine wears them and when he takes them off after riding the rest of his leg is about 1cm bigger either side because he does the ankle brace up so tight. I reckon you would be alright with them Dave, just don't expect to be able to go huge. Maybe get an XC/road bike just to build up some strength? I dunno much about ankles but I would have thought that would probably help, just getting used to the motions and everything again.

I've got one like that.

You'll probably need something a bit meatier but the 661 braces are really good, really support your foot and help to stop it aching and stuff had a couple of falls that probably would have destroyed my ankle if I wasn't wearing it.

Maybe have a word with Physio Si first though, he'll maybe come and check it out and then reccomend something to you. (Y)

hey man thanks for the link, im gonna give one of these ago i think, looks plenty meaty enuff.

whats the 661 like for ankle rolling.. does it look after it in that sense?

if it that bad, then i wouldnt get the 661, as i said i have one pretty much the same but by nike, and it also had a support strap that wraps round my ankle, and yea its good but i still dont 100% trust it, cus all youv got is fabric holding ur ankle in place, and you foot will still move a fair bit.

the main problem is not the actual riding its when you jump off th bike to bail or what ever, and you might land shit! and jus destroy your ankle.... again

go for the one in the link i sent and in the quote.... your ankle is held strait by those plastic plates, and its like seriously impossible to roll your ankle with it on lol!

better to be safe then sorry...

how much would it cost for a new ankle?

did u tear ligaments? do it more then once bad you get ankleinstability.... no sport.... do it again.. surgery

niiice

thats about the price for the better supports, lightweight ones like the 661 are always cheaper cus theyre jus a lace up sock... cheap pants lol jus for support... not to physicaly stop it from rolling.
