StevenJJ
Hi people, was just wondering if you could tell me the differences between the pro2 trials hubs and the standard mtb ones. Would I be able to run a trials one with a nine speed cassette on a mtb frame?
Ash-Kennard
im not sure about the gear question, but the trials one has 48 engagement points and the std one only has
craigjames
the pro 2 trials has a 48 engagement point freewheel mechanism and has a 6speed cassette shell and therefore cant run a 9 speed cassette. a pro 2 is 24 engagement points and has a 9 speed cassette shell.feel free to correct me if im wrong. N.Wood
No, the trials one has a shorter freehub body only allowing a max of 6 speeds.

grant_hundley
any roadie cassette will be good, for trials you dont really need a wide spread of gears..a roadie cassette will have closer gears (if that makes sense) so each gear change isnt as big as on a normal cassette
Tomm
Does anyone no where i can get hold of a six speed cassette then? Sorry for the millions of questions people. :$Just get a normal 8/9 speed cassette and lose the top 2-3 sprockets. The cheaper ones (Deore?) are better because the sprockets are easier to separate (you can drill out the bolts). The more expensive ones like XT have an aluminium carrier for the bigger sprockets and you can't take them apart.
