No it's to know when your LEGALLY sober enough to drive, not when you're sober.

Yes, that too. But do you know what the legal limits are over here? No! So stop making judgements. FYI they're 4x lower than in the UK. People have been prosecuted for eating a chocolate filled with alcohol because that made them go over the limit. I see no point in discussing this, fed up with people talking about something they have no idea about.

I know nothing about your limits over there, so forgive me. But I dont even bother drinking a beer over here if I'm driving because that's on the limit and it's not worth being able to drink one measly beer. Taking the tiny bit of info I have, which I got from you, you're allowed to have around 1/4 of a pint to be on the legal side. Why even bother? I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I'm just saying I honestly wouldn't be spending money on alcohol if I couldn't have enough to even give me a buzz, just don't understand it.

On topic I'm glad Mikes doing OK, and he's not asking for any sympathy for not wearing a helmet. He's just saying he will next time, he's basically admitting it was a mistake.

Well yes, if you have a drink and want to get into the car straight away, then there's no point. But nobody goes to clubs/parties for 5 minutes, more like a few hours. So if you want to get pissed, and in my case not wait till 5am for a bus home, you will want to find out when you can legally and safely get back home even if it means sitting in a car or having a nap while not freezing to death outside. And since the difference between being able to drive legally and being sober is about 15 minutes, there's really no reason not to wait just to be on the safe side.

Cool, hadn't thought of it that way... Not something I'd be comfortable risking unless it was one of the machines the cops use. But that's probably just because I've been stupid enough to get banned for drink driving years ago. Just be careful!

I don't know the exact figures, but I'm pretty sure it takes longer than 15 minutes to sober up. I would guess you'd need to go to a party, drink 2-3 beers and then wait a good 2-3 hours to sober up. Since I really can't see anyone doing that, to me it's a really stupid idea. But that's not what this thread is about so I'll leave it there for now.

I just wouldn't bother drinking. There's loads of non-alcoholic drinks about these days and you get a cheap night out of it. Messing with an breathalizer until you're just under the limit seems a bit iffy. You're still driving under the influence of alcohol however little it may be.

Inurs first post was a little harsh, but a valid opinion. The 'go f**k yourself' reply was just flaming and exactly what the 'line in the sand' thread was all about, also it probably broke the rules but it's hardly worth reporting :giggle: . I personally have a lot of sympathy towards the guy helmet or not, but a huge lack of respect because he wasn't wearing it in the first place.

Good to see he actually walked out.

This is going so off topic... The reason for that purchase was to know when i'm sober and therefore to be able to return home. It's pretty obvious that I didn't buy it to drive home intoxicated? So at which point is somebody's life at risk?

your one of those thingys, erm whats it called? Tosser?

DRINK COKE............
