ruption0
Well I say all them aspects.finding information for getting the things you need to compete isnt very easy to find, as well as the cost of travel these days is very high.comp riding is also a lot different to riding street for a fun day out.I think its all down to the person if they see compitition as there type or riding as comp riding to riding for fun i think is really different.Well I say all them aspects.finding information for getting the things you need to compete isnt very easy to find, as well as the cost of travel these days is very high.comp riding is also a lot different to riding street for a fun day out.I think its all down to the person if they see compitition as there type or riding as comp riding to riding for fun i think is really different. aener
Maybe there should be a sticky in the "Rides/locations" forum called "Thinking of entering a competition?", and it gives you all the general information you need...How to enter, will it cost, rules... I don't know much about them - so I won't be writing it.Basically - everything you have to go through to enter, but not for a specific competition. Rusevelt
Yet more and more street riders go for the biggest taps, sidehops and gaps they can and currently I would say that they are probably the majority in terms of the type of riding done in trials. It seems that most people who ride go out to push themselves and the people they ride with yet they don't do it in a comp format where you are judged.I know what you're saying in that generally in sports, there is a small percentage the competes yet there is a large majority that just does it for fun/fitness.I think in trials it could be different as most of the people who ride trials have the ability to enter a comp and would probably do better than me (making it through two sections is good for me) its just most people prefer too ride street in an informal situation. It would be nice if more people tried comps as they are fun and definately a challenge (I usually ignore the people who take it too seriously).Like i stated before, this topic can be viewed from many different perspectives with virtually endless debate. If Uci, Redbull, or whoever started organizing street comps, then arguements will point towards why is the majority riders entering street comps as opposed to the minority entering natural comps, its clearly a no win please everybody situation . Just live for the opportunity and fullfilment of the ride , and show your appreciation for those riders that do compete
Revolver
sounds good...would be great if there were some comps local to down here ( cornwall )Are there many hills down your way? They seem only to do comps on the sides of hills, like the pennines. One of these indoor evens would be great! They'd have the opportunity to create a temporary trials park. They could also make a section that had both street and natural in it. Like, you have to get up a massive rock, and gap to one of those cable things that look like bobbins, and then back to a rock. That would be interesting... that NBR dude
There will be something coming in the furture, be it from Andrei or myself. I've been working with a few people to get something off the ground. Don't know exactly when this will be yet (mid-end of 2009 at a rough guess work) but I'm sure more will come to light very soon. Its been a while since I've been involved in something like this. Mr Pearson, I'm looking in your direction for help with this one haha!would be a cool idea, all we need is a big covered space and some " i will not hold the organiser liable....." forms...You need a lot more than that. It used to be that simple back in the day, but these days with everyone sueing everyone else, things have changed slightly. Revolver
If you have moors and hills and stuff where you are, it's pretty shit there not being many competitions.I for one would much rather do them in the south if it meant never going to one in the rain.lolAlthough my heart's with Yorkshire, and it always will be."If it ain't from yorkshire, its shite." Revolver
You know it does still rain down here... Revolver
Wahoo the South wins....I knew our coldness and rain would pay off eventually.Yeah, your coldness and rain is nothing compared to that of the mighty Yorkshire...We ARE the biggest county.East Anglia is full of mud and doesn't count.Just looked, Yorkshire's the biggest county anyway Yorkshire UNITE!lol I say this but I actually live in Nottingham now.Wasn't my choice! Ross McArthur
My take on comps is that they are fun...well the Fort bill ones ive riden anyway.I have fun because im pushing myself and trying to do better against my mates. Im competative and think its not a bad thing. Ive seen boys throw their bikes at comps and it makes for a bad feeling for sure. As for the skipping ques, f**k their dads, come ahead and skip me if you think your shite enough. As for having to ride the sections classed by age, how shite an idea is that!! if I had just started trials how the hell am I meant to ride the hard sections!! psycholist
As for having to ride the sections classed by age, how shite an idea is that!! if I had just started trials how the hell am I meant to ride the hard sections!!If they classed it by mental age I'd rip up the under 12's ... Though there might be a lot of other people joining me down there based on the other trials riders I know come to think of it ... If I was to travel to an event it'd have to be something huge and in a drier country like Koxxdays or an indoor event, so there's a guarantee of getting some good riding in. I do ride in the rain every so often (Very little choice here in Limerick, Ireland's rain capital), but there's a difference between riding in the rain near your house where you know you have warmth, shelter and dry clothes and can disappear indoors if the weather gets worse and travelling for hours each way to endure the same thing. Martin Grainger
comps are so much fun, and such a good way to progress, i rode the hampshire ones last yeah but then got a job which ment wokring sundays..however got a new job now and as long as i pass my driving test im hoping to re-apply for a licence to start next year and then hopefully do a few more of the british rounds aswell as hampshire again and i understand people saying there too much of a terrible rider to do them as i was liek that when i first started, but if you dont try or at least have a go you wont be giving it a chance to help your riding out, i was terrible for the first year but once meeting a few people my level we were always competing to get better then the other, was such a good ime and a laugh, i really think everyone should give it a go once at least.
