NVWOCI WVS
What kindof stem would suit a revell stock well? I'm running monty bars of that makes a difference. I want it to be nice and streety, but keep the ability to do techy 'real trials' stuff too.I haven't actually got a revell frame yet, just thinking about it... Ben John-Hynes
Personally, I'd use something longish, so techy trials moves are still do-able, and high-ish so it bunnyhops and whatnot. Too long/short and too high/low will make the bike feel wrong and will only set it up for 1 of the types of riding that you want to do. NVWOCI WVS
What about having two stems, I could keep my long echo one for comps and have a short one for street?
Ben John-Hynes
YOu could so that, yeah. But you might find it hard moving from one to the other as you may perfer one to the other IMO. It's probably be better experimenting and finding the one that you like for streeet and trials.
Ross McArthur
I should really pop up a picture of all the bars and stems I have in my shed that ive ever used to try out riding positions. For your revel stock with monty bars id go for a 105mm stem with 10 degrees rise with a 10mm spacer under the stem. Not knowing what height you are I cant say for sure that will be the best combo for you, but that usually works on most "street" geos.Mind and not have the bars tilted too far forward. Looking at the bike head on you should see a U shape in the bars with a slight sweep back when you stand over the bike.Just try and get used to what you have got for comps. The last thing you want to do is change your set up your used to riding when you want to be riding your best in a comp! Its so 1999 changing stems for comps. lol
