ti-mig-guy
I am thinking of changing my mod to front disk. I am curious to see how it has affected other riders. Also how much of an issue is bending disks for other mod riders? How often do they need to be replaced due to bending? I would assume that the ability to modulate the brake would be nice, but is it worth it? Also compared to hs-33, will all disk brakes be heavier? Skoze
Rotors hardly ever get hit on the front, and if they do they're easy to bend back Weight, i barely noticed it (went from a maggie to a 200mm mono trial)
eskimo
If you want modulation don't get a BB7. I prefer using a disc just so i can ride down hills. A smooth rim also works well for modulation, silence and pad life.
adam 94
Well i have'nt hit my front disc yet touch wood! There fine you wont hit it as long as you dont think you will hit it!
Mikee
i think i disc on the front is brilliant. i have a hope mono trial and it is really powerful and modulated. if you do bend the disc it can be easily straightend with an adjustable spanner. and the weight doesn't make a dramatic difference. if there is anyone living around you with a front disc, ask them if you can have a little go and see what you think. in my opnion it is well worth having a disc up front
spartan
Yeah disc of front is the way to go for sure.I used to run a vee up front but having it squeak and stuff going down hills was a bummer. Also i find with a rim brake its harder when your going to front wheel to suck the rear wheel in. I found that i have to swap to rear with rim brakes because there is less modulation. Im sure thats mostly me being an idiot but seriously get a disc and dont look back. And i am right foot forward and am learning to sidehop to my left (disc side) so itll be interesting to see if i hit my rotor alot or not. Oke Phill
Dude just recently changed from a hs33 to a magura louise front disk.I would well recomend a disk now. I think the disk on the front minumises the risk of death when riding natural trials, helps with steep decents too I thought i would have bent the disk by now, but i have landed on the disk a few times and its still ok. Considering im a fat pasty i recon thats good going.
ti-mig-guy
Thanks for the reply's. I am now 95% sure I will go to a disk. Next questions would be who bought a disk, hated it, and had to purchase a different setup? Basically is there any to stay away from for sure? Is there a down side to buying used disks? Do the parts wear out after time, if so how long?
