Greetings
Was:Now:New front wheel including some Sapim Lazer spokes and a rear rim CNC milled according to Bigman's instructions (thanks for the help man). Weighs in at 628g which is a little worse than Adam's result but he must have just started off with a lighter rim since the holes are the same size. forteh
Beating you Those are phenominally light forks, how long you reckon they will last? I dont see why you shouldnt beat 8.8kg, a liberal application of ti bolts will get mine down below 8.8 but Ive stopped spending money on it for now Good luck, looks lovely. Greetings
Those are phenominally light forks, how long you reckon they will last? Well Forteh, that's an excellent question and I thank you for it. I think it's great we post on a forum where you can ask questions. Because without questions, we just have answers. And an answer without a question is a statement. To be serious though, I don't know. They seem to be ok, Deng hasn't gone over the top with making them as light as possible. All I can say that after examining them and checking the steerer/crown area, I'm confident. The steerer itself is fairly thick, the same as in Pre '07 Deng forks. JoNnY__Mc
WOW that's so nice :$I never used to be into the whole weight saving thing, partly because I have no money After going on other peoples lighter bikes I can see why they do it! I want to change the bar and stem setup on my zoo from my really low zoo stem and zoo bars to something like the setup your using, can you see this benefitting my riding and will it suit the geometry of my short 07 pitbull? Luke Rainbird
Rotational weight, so yeahSaving an equivalent weight from your wheels not frame will make more difference - saving 10g from wheels and 200g from a frame is different though Just being sensible about component choices is the way to go
NicP
That is actually quite nice,What rims are they though?
JonMack
I think they're BT rims that have been chopped up a bit.

Greetings
The front rim is a Trialtech, the rear is a BT which is essentially an eyeleted Tryall. Will be changing that to a CNC'd Trialtech like the thing Bigman made some time ago. Anyway, thanks for the comments. Will be updating this thread throughout the next few months. forteh
If you can cope with a narrower rear rim then a dx32 with 18mm holes weighs 654g

Greetings
If you can cope with a narrower rear rim then a dx32 with 18mm holes weighs 654g I think Bigman's Trialtech weighed 620g. Need to PM him about that.Anyway, found out that the wheelbase has decreased by 10mm meaning these forks probably have 35mm rake despite what the Echo website says. So that's another point in favour. Shame really as they looked super trick In reality you could take much bigger holes out of the dx32 and save even more, I reckon you could push then up to 22mm holes; even better you could mill 18x30 rectangles/obrounds in there

forteh
think i might drill 20mm holes in mine, you'll know if its strong enough if it holds up to my abuse For reference the holes in mine are 18mm and its just about nicking the inner vertical wall, the rim is 50 lighter than a tryall and Im betting as strong, added bonus is it holds a grind well A 22mm hole would probably take out the inner vertical completely.
