26'' Zoo Freehub And Trialtech Rim Any Good?

Freewheels/ hubs are one area you should never settle for second-best on (or about 13th best in this case)

The consequences of an in-oppertune hub skip can be terrible.

Echo freehubs seem to be a bit of a lottery, some work, others don't. This problem tends to be even worse on stocks due to the higher forces put upon said hub.

Yeah, like Skoze said. I had one on my mod for about a year. Worked flawless and was absolutely sick. Rode a friend's Zoo Pitbull and it skipped like crazy. Not very consistent with their hubs it seems. If I was going for a freehub, I'd get a Pro 2 trials for sure. Don't care what they say. Some Chris Kings suck too. They are not as consistent either. Seen some of those that were horrible. Go for a pro 2.

The only chris king hubs that don't work properly are those that are neglected, never tuned, and allowed to become loose. I've owned 2 over 2 years (1 bmx and 1 mtb spacing), and I havent had either of them skip on me. Very easy to maintain too...but some people don't feel like they should have to look after their bikes...

I was going to come up with something but you never specified what rim. If it were the square holes one then you could probably save £20? or whatever it is and buy a DX32 then use the £20 to go Pro2. Or almost go Pro2.

You can also price match and CRC do the Pro2 £10 cheaper so that's an extra £10 off.

[edit]

Plus build it yourself, that'll save another tenner. Free postage will save a fiver. And if you found a newish rim on here, for £20 then you'd probably almost have the Pro2 money without even saving any more money.

Nope, proven fact. 1 out of 10 Kings skip horribly. Maybe that's just the older ones?

Got proof then? <_< The only reason a king will skip is if the bearings dont have enough preload on them or they have been run without the preload adjusted whilst bedding in. Try taking one of the driveshell bearings out of a proII (or any freehub for that matter) and see how long it lasts.

As for the original question, pick up a proII from here and get a cheap rim; dx32 is bombproof and cheap, also very light once drilled :)

AFAIK the trialtech rear rim is the same as a tryall/atomz/viz.

i want to see this proof lol.

and is this based on kings that are properly maintained and looked after?
