streetjibs
Just curious to know from people who have the new tryall cncd brake mounts, if there is any benefits or performance advantages? OR is it simply just to make setting up the pads square to the rim easier???I know its obviously not going to make the performance any better of the brakes... but im just curious to know why people use them?thanks .. please post up any disadv too if u have used them?danny
forteh
The only problem I can see with them is that (I think) they only clamp on the ridged section of the slave, I dont know about you but I quite often position the plastic washers beyond the ridged section in order to get the pad in the right place. Also it would be a bitch fitting them with old brake pads unless your slaves were perfectly square to the mounts previously.I havent used them, the standard maggie ones work plenty well enough for myself
Greetings
I don't think they do. Haven't had these mounts in my hands but I do have some 80's 4bolt mounts at home which work on the same principal. They clamp on the full length of the slave.Edit: interesting fact - the Tryall and tryall based rims do not have parallel sidewalls. They are at a slight angle facing towards the hub. So I'd think Tryall would be the last manufacturer to introduce such clamps since I can't see how these would work on their rims? Half a year ago me and my mate were planning on releasing clamps like these but we found that they'd be incompatible with too many types of rims. It's all made by Jetset I believe? Onza Hog, Kris Holm, Viz, Try-All just to name a few..
Stan Shaw
I found with my Try-all mounts, that the brake pads would always wear at funny angles There just isn't enough adjustment in my opinion. I think they can work, but you need a perfectly square frame (they never are) new pads and a rim with machined sidewalls. I've gone back to normal mounts with plastic C clip washers. A little trickier to set up, but worth it as you can set up your pads to be square every time on any set up.

N.Wood
Could try setting one up with 2 undersides of the mounts (so the part that sits against the frame is on both the top and bottom without the plastic washer) before you splash the cash on Try-All? that NBR dude
I've heard about this. I think Rich Pearson runs that and aparently is much easier to set up. I've never tried it myself as I've never had a problem with normal mounts and the plastic C ring, but talk to Rich if you want to give it a go. Think it demands some slight angle grinding though.
