Mikee
My friend who is a skateboarder says he puts skateboard wheels in the freezer for a few days and they last alot longer. Does anybody know if the same thing will work for brake pads?cheers.
sidehop
I can imagine they wouldnt be great after it though.... But hey give it a go if you run the D-Dawg of grinds like.
Nick Manning
First I've ever heard. Can't see any harm in trying.
Dan6061
Would they just 'defrost' then be back to normal again?
MadManMike
They'd defrost very quickly...Would the extreme cold not damage the material?
tom aky
I cant see it doing much to be honest might aswell try though only way you gunna find out.
spartan
Like it might make the pad a little harder but that would thaw out pretty quick like. The problem is that the material would shrink and might pop outta the backing, might not but i wouldnt risk it. JonMack
The reason skateboarders do it is because the rubber is always curing, thus getting harder. They may buy say 3 or 4 sets of wheels at the beginning of the year, and put 3 sets in the freezer, one on the board, then when they wear out, get a set out of the freezer and they last longer because they've cured more due to the cold.I suppose it would work with pads, but not worth it for a few days, try maybe buying 3/4 sets of the same pads and putting them in the freezer then seeing if you notice any performance difference. Ben John-Hynes
Are you on about freezing them every night/after every ride?
Muel
It would make the pads harder I'm guessing, so they wouldn't deform to the grind as easily, so you probably loose braking power.
will pritchard
It doesn't make them any better to be honest i've tryed it with skate board wheels it doesn't do anything special don't try it, it can snapp the things that conect to the brake pads Will x
mr_malcolm
if they are in plastic backings then certainly it would just make them more brittle and more likely to snap
