gu trials
when i first got my gu le one of the magura mounts threded and it got taped and then was ok and then i stripped the one above it to move the cylinder in and it threded so i helicoiled them all. and today i changed from a 4botlt booster to a 2bolt booster and now three of mounts work but the top left hand side one keeps f****ng up the heli coils and it has been helicoiled 3 times :Si tried using the two bolts which came with the booster but they keep hitting the bottom of the frame and hanging out so i am using cut down bolts so it fits.please help
6ft-midget
Maybe the cut down bolt has a rough thread pattern on the end causing it to enter the heli-coil unevenly and damage the coil. But I'm not an expert so don't qoute me on it. Danny
Put a nut on the bolt before you cut it down. It cleans the thread off then when you remove the nut.

EchoSam
heres a few thing o try.Take achain apart the small cicrullar rings that are inbetween links are the perfect sized spacers just need a few of them. And also i had this hppen to me, i went to a local mototrbike secialist to get mine done and he explained that if you are using steel (bolts) and alu frame or visa versa they have a small reaction which causes the threads to weaken and thus strip but if you use copper grease which is like £4.50 from halfords it helps to prevent the reaction by causing a small barrier and protecting the threads..Tom Edited September 23, 2008 by ToMhIlL131
