Humming/fuzzing Noise In New Speakers Aka "ground Loop"

Sonny Clarke

Recommended Posts

Right, just bought a new set of speakers but they are being annoying and making a humming noise, either when the volume is nearly minimum/maximum it is loudest then. i have read up on this and discovered it is called Ground loop.

If anyone understands this (i'm looking your way Mike :P) and could recommend a solution, please give us a hand!

Cheers,

Sonny

Sounds to me like one, other, or both of these:

1) Duff power supply on PC

2) Cheap soundcard in PC

I can't think of anything else at the moment lol

I'd imagine it being some sort of complication of the analogue-digital converting between the digital signal in your soundcards processor and the analogue style line-out socket of your speaker jack (3.5mm)

Ok thats very strange! I was just browsing when i heard a noise (women speaking) coming from the speakers, i closed the browser and it the noise was still there.

Possibly interference from a radio signal althought i don't know how that's possible.

It most certainly is. My speakers at my parents house seem to pick up some french broad. What can i say, my speakers pull more than i do

It could be anything really, as it can come from a large amount of places in the world. Apparently its the reflection of radio signals due to the occurrence of very specific weather conditions.

In layman's terms there's some clouds that bounce the radio channel back at the planet and your speaker picks them up.
