esfrost
Okay heres the story:I bought a Crank Brothers Iodine C directset a couple of days ago. Everything went pretty well during the installation. After i installed erverything and tightened up the bolts, i discovered that the hs starts to get sticky when i starts turning the bar. I also feel the wobble, but only when im turning the bar. I cant feel it, if i just pull the front brake while moving the bike back and forth. I took everything apart two times, just to check it again, but i couldnt find the problem. I dont see anything wrong with the hs.Anyone any ideas? davey1991
A couple more steerer tube spacers, or undo the bolts on the back of your stem and tighten your top cap bolt then tighten the bolts on the back of the stem again. If that doesnt work you probably need a new star bolt. AdamR28
Has the head tube been faced and also the fork crown race? It's more important with that headset as there is no 'float' because of the integrated bearings...

Muel
Sounds to me like the headtube needs facing, my Echo does what you've described, but it's only when the bars are facing backwards, so I've never bothered to fix it. Mark W
Not if star nuts in the right place! How? Unless you mean the star-nut would slip up before you could tighten it that much? The only thing that'd really stop it is if the top-cap bottomed out on the top of the steerer tube?
esfrost
Thanks for the reply guys. I guess my frame needs a facing. Damn it...
Muel
How did you fit the headset cups? With headset press or with a hammer?
esfrost
I made a headset press tool for it, and did it with that. It works just like and original headset press tool. Muel
Yeh mines home made aswell haha, my Dad machined the pressing bits on his lathe at work. That was the only other thing I could think of, if you hammer them in it can warp the cups I think, then they don't sit right in the frame.
