greenmeansgo
Try Airwalks. Seem to have thinner soles than many skate shoes, so you feel more through the pedals.

Jitters
I slip on my smelly old Converse All-Stars sometimes - if I'm not already wearing them. Just tuck the laces in and go. And I cover the worn out parts with duct tape for bonus points.

jsy trials matt
love my try-all's but i went through two pair's of them and a m8 only went through one pair of ribbo's ( silver one's ) as they have a really thick sole but they are way more comfy than the reef's and globe's
Oli P
I find Airwalks work fine and you can get them for about £20 so u could have £40 to spend on your bike.

I'm sorry, but there not special shoes. They do offer better grip than most trainer's, but more to the point they offer ankle protection, which is vital in a competition as it is easy to loose your footing and screw your ankle up.I wear the Northwave trials shoe's. I find them very grippy and comfortable and fairly water resistant.

JohnyMilton
You dont need any pixie trials boots, all you need is a Vans shoe(with the old skool sole), or a Nike 6.0 in a bright colour, hehe!(my favorite)
