Sick Of This Rain

Clean the rotor thoroughly to make sure it's not anything else that's messing it up. Most discs should be fine if it's raining anyway, just 'cos they shouldn't realistically get too wet anyway.

But yeah, just grind the rim. Whether it's new or not doesn't make much difference. It was what I did to my rims as soon as they got laced into a wheel. I'd rather have a good brake than a shiny looking sidewall (Which will look like shit instantly as soon as you smear black streaks of tar over it...).

Just some extra persuasion - if needed.

I was the same as you, and didn't want to grind my rim 'cause it'd wear out - but then a friend advised me that: "A rim is replacable - your back, isn't."

We put a grind on straight after that, and I felt the benfits straight away.

Not only is the brake MUCH more responsive - the whole bike feels lighter.

I didn't know why, at the time - but it's because of the lessened effort of braking. If it's easier to pull the brake, you can expend more effort on everything else.

I was on a T-Pro, at the time - and it went from feeling absolutely horrible - to feeling really responsive, light, and easy to ride.

Yes - you'll go through rims quicker... but most can take.. what... 10 grinds?

Each one'll last about a month - or they do for me, anyway - so it's not that bad, really.

Any tips for when i grind my rim? Never done it before so i don't have a clue.

When I grind my wheel, I take the wheel out of the bike, take the tyre and tube off. Then I tend to go counter clockwise, you may find it easier going clockwise, but I start to grind the rim. I tend to start at the valve hole so I know where to stop, (if your rim is dirty then you can obviously tell where you started).

When I grind my rim, I tend to have the grinding disc, at about a 45degree angle to the rim surface, then I go back and forth over the rim surface making sure the whole rim surface gets ground, and gradually work my way round the wheel.

It can be quite daunting at first, but it is really easy and does literally take 2 mins.

If you want a more harsh grind then do it at a steeper angle, just be careful as to not cut through the rim.

Hope that helps.

Why in the second video does the wheel look so small. It's obviously a mod wheel, but it looks flipping tiny.

I'm sick of this shit, everyone knows that when it's sunny you get so many sluts with hardly any clothes on walking around town. When it's shit weather you just get grannys with broken umbrellas. I'm only here for another 29 days before I have months of just manly male dominance an I just wana see some sluts!

Haha this guy knows the score. Riding in the rain can be really fun and productive, but its often a lonely affair! The prospect of hot girls around when your riding has made the summer months more fun :-

Oh and my advice, get a DECENT waterproof. A cycling specific one that is breathable and waterproof, not just showerproof! It makes a world a difference if you have the right kit. Endura make some decent stuff that you can happily wear on or off the bike.

Cousts + sharp grind + monty brake spray if you can bother = brake problems sorted.

Just ride in the wet if you're desperate, it's not like your bike is going to rust. And if you're so concerned about getting wet, jump under the shower in your clothes before going out. I'm serious, you'll no longer be bothered by the rain. Rode a few times in heavy rain this summer and they were the best rides in my life mainly because of how challenging simple things like holding onto the handlebars become.

Good lad, that's hardcore right there.

My brakes don't really work in the rain but I like the fact that it makes me do stuff without using them.

The main reason I don't like the rain is that I use foam grips, and the water soaks straight through to the hair spray and then they swivel freely round the bars until I take them off and hair spray them again...
