Cheers for all the replies guys. I rang today and the guy said it should take between 3-6 weeks. He said it's usually 6 weeks if you messed up the form and everything else but I'm doing the check and send so there shouldn't be a problem there. To be honest if I miss out on Paris i wouldn't be fussed haha. Ahh well. See how it goes :)

the same day passport office is in peterborough if i remember correctly...

It is.

I sent off for my passport sometime around november 2006. I fast tracked it and it cam a week later. I didn't need it till late January. I only needed as I have no other photo ID. I was flying from Bournemouth to Glasgow.

Mine was stolen and I needed a new one about 6 weeks later for a short notice business trip.

Went to IPS in Liverpool (There are several places like this in the UK, eg Peterborough etc) and handed over forms etc... and they said I could pick it up the following day, despite being told by phone and on the website that there was no way I'd ever be able to get a new one quickly.

Get yourself an appointment at fill in all the forms/get photo signed etc... and see what they say.

What I don't really understand is people saying "I didn't read the thread, but...", then someone pointing out that what they said was already wrong from posts earlier in the thread, then that person replying again to say sorry - pretty sure the time spent making 2 posts and submitting them is greater than just reading the threads, so you'd, for example, know that you can't have passports done the same day, especially not from a fictional building in London.

Strictly speaking you can have a passport renewed in one day at a place in London as my colleague did. But the fact is... This is my FIRST ADULT PASSPORT and so therefore I can't just get the thing done in one day as technically speaking I don't appear on their system as I've never had my own passport, just been under my parents passports when I was young and so just going to these places isn't going to help me as they have to do all the checks on me and so on thus not being able to get the thing done in one day. If I could I would believe me. :)

Yeah, I know you can have them renewed in a day, but I was refering to your predicament. Hope it all works out for you either way - there's still plenty of time, so good luck!

My bad. Sorry. Will get it all sent off tomorrow and then it's a case of praying and maybe using my police influence ;)
