Sam-Addy A3
Hey, im thinking of running rear bb7, will it hold well on the rear? Hows the bite?I know this question has probably benn answered before but i find the search useless, lolThanks Sam
PaRtZ
I ran a 185mm BB7 on my hydroxx. It was fine Had to butcher the dropouts a bit to get it to fit but once bedded in it was sweet 203 is over kill for sure. 160 hydro is powerful, I dare say a 165 would be adequate

Greetings
Mod or stock? If mod, listen to Partz. If stock, listen to me Don't get one. Get a Hope instead. The BB7 has adequate braking power for the rear wheel on a 203mm rotor but only when you have big leverage at the brake lever (ie. an SD7). That makes the brake too spongy to use. Used to run a BB7 on the rear, then got a BB5 which was better but still useless. It all depends though, if you're a technical rider and don't need a strong rear brake then I guess it's ok. J Trials 31
Would a Louise or a Marta be alright on the rear of a stock?
cai
I'd prefur an Avid (BB5 / 7) anyday over a hydro - BB7's are just so easy and simple to set up and the adjustability is awsome (BB5's aren't bad either).I just had alot of bad experiences with my old Hope, the lever never pulled to where I wanted it (as the oil expands and stuff), and leaks which contamaneted the pads >.< And you don't get these problems with a cable brake
Muel
Would a Louise or a Marta be alright on the rear of a stock?I'd say yes, the hold you that my brothers 180mm on the front of his mod delivers is unreal, it bites really harshly though, theres a lot less modulation than with a mono trial.I've never used a BB7 on the rear, but I've tried a few on the front and just don't like them
J Trials 31
Ok, here's another question. Would a BB7 be alright on the rear of a stock with an Ultimate lever?
cai
Theres really no need for the Ultimate lever - an SD7 is almost as good, and they're £13 for two!! (on 'CycleSurgery')link

cai
Go for it then Theres nothing wrong with Ultimate levers - bar the price!

forteh
I had a 185 bb7/SD7 rear disk on my triton (couldnt fit the 203 in there because the disk hit the frame ) and it was as inur said, adequate if youre not relying on the rear brake. Mine was set up perfectly, the disk properly bedded and it just would not hold on the edges of walls That said the bite was pretty good for a rear disk but the hold was probably about on par with koolstop reds on a smooth rim in the dry. Ive gone back to maggie, its lighter, less spongey, more bitey and doesnt slip
