JT!
Got a tricycle here with one of them on it, it's crap. Anyone got any ideas on how to make it better?Or if not, anyone know where i could get a replacement one with a much grippier surface. Thanks! Fixed Pants™
Do they feel particularly spongy? They usually have quite a rough surface from new, then once that's smoothed itself out, it'll be good and you'll be able to set the brakes up even tighter.EDIT: However, they are just generally shit. Fixed Pants™
setting them up 'tighter' isnt going to make them more powerful.Didn't say it would, but it will make they nice feeling brakes.I didn't think of changing the leverage though... Good point. Also, better levers like Avid SD7s adjusted for most leverage and less cable pull could help a lot.
ti-mig-guy
The V shaped piece that pulls could be bigger. Could try to make one that has a longer side and a shorter side (the cable side should be the short side), that would give you some mechanical advantage. JT!
So tar wouldn't help then. I'd rather not fiddle with making it more powerful mechanical wise because the brake is very very spongey as it is. I've pulled a lot of cable though and it has a decent bite point, but it really is useless.
Fishy
Tar? Hairspray? Coke? Monty Brake Spray?
Will Arnold
tried changing the cable? can help alot if its an old mankey one!
Revolver
Wrap the braking surface in skateboard grip tape. The downside is, it will erode the rubber piece.
