What Is The Best Disc Brake And Hub For Front Disc

Recommended Posts

Front Hope Mono Trial, any disc hub with sealed bearings. Monty TIs are good because the rotor bolts can run right through the spoke flange, so you can run super long bolts, so no risk of stripping the threads out of the rotor mounts! (Unless you like over tightening things!)

Hey, with £200 you can get alot!

As for a front brake, avid bb7s are amazing, great hold and have a really nice lever feel if set up properly.

The brake by its self with set you back £40 but you will need to buy a lever and cable.

Brake: http://tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?produc...;category_id=12 £40

Lever: http://tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?produc...;category_id=71 £11

and you can get a cable from tescos or somewhere

You will then have £145 pounds left for a hub.

This means you can afford one of the best hubs on the market and have some cash left over

Chris king hub: http://tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?produc...;category_id=20

There are many other hubs on the market if you don't want to spend too much but with a chris king hub and an avid bb7 you will have a truly amazing setup.

Hope this helped

I'd say you have no reason to spend a load of money on a front, theoretically, all it has to do is hold bearings, so something like a Hope Pro II (which I personally use, its been flawless), or a Pro II XC if your worried about weight.

For the brake I've heard good things about the Hope Mono Trials, allthough can't comment on it personally.

Any reason you specifically want a front disc?

I do exactly that, except I'd probably spend a bit more on the cable and get an oddessy linear slick or similar, rather than a cheap one that may stretch and not run quite so smooth. Personal prefernce though.

hello,

I getting a disc on the front and i need help what one should i get and i would need to get a new hub aswell i have got £200 to get what i need.

thanks

Aaron

avid bb7 no smaller than 180mm (i run 203 replacing my hope mono 160mm) with any v-brake lever. £50-£60

the hope brakes are great but not worth the money over a bb7

only prob i've ever had with a bb7 is it locked up on me on one ride. my fault i didn't grease the arm bearings and it seased up.

took it appart, greased it up and it's still working better than ever.

and hope front hub all the way. bout £40

all you want with half the budget!?!?!?!???!?!!!

my mates was wa*k and now he got a hope its the best thing he ever did

Yeah! Don't bother with an Avid, just go for the Hope. There pretty sick.

And for a hub. Its totally up to you, depends on what kind of rider you are. If you're a smooth rider you can run pretty much anything, because you wont brake it. I run a T-master hub up front (nothing special) but it does the job. But if you're a crazy street basher you might fancy somethig more stronger like a king or something deng like.
