Muel
My Dad works in engineering, and the price of all metals is going up. Stainless steel has increased massively in price, so soon enough we'll be looking at frames that last year cost £300 soon cost £400-500 he reckons.Unfortunately we're running out, I'm not certain but I think metals are non renewable? When we've empied the ground of the ores then thats it.
Abdab
Yeah, that's the trade-off - light frames = butted tubes = more cost. Combined with increased raw materials cost I think the price is has come out very reasonably.Ahhh right. So have you actually got the pictures MUEL: I think your righ about the non renewable thing there, Im not entirely sure though. But if what you say is true then wtf are we going to do for bikes in future? lolAnd when you say future Im guessing its no time soon? 100 years or a great amount more right? Muel
Heres an idea, buy lots of old cracked frames from people, then in 3 years time, weigh them in.I've had this Echo for 6 months now, which is the longest I've ever owned a trials frame. Mark W
Haha, I can remember back on my work experience at Onza Rob or Chris had drilled holes in his crank arm, but said no-one would ever be stupid enough to actually do it properly... Andeee
I understand material costs etc. £399 is just over the top for a frame i personally would refer paying £319 at most for a frame and im sure a fair few on the forum would agree. Muel
I didn't know how far off it was or anything, I was just wondering if that could be a possible reason for the price rise of metals. Anyway back on topic, I really like the look of those rims, I just might have to buy a pair one day.
Rusevelt
Yea and all our pay packets have gone up to conpensate for that..... your right there. just save your money until the 2010 jan sales...because if the economy doesn't improve throughout 2009, retailers will be force to make even earlier price cuts. manuel
not sure about the cranks or the forks (SL versions of forks that seem to break pretty easily ... ?)really do like the rims though - especially the front 26 for rear use ..... 16 years later
Year the rims look f**king nicebut will wait and see how strong they arebut seeing that their echo's they should be strong Edited August 23, 2008 by 15 years later
Greetings
Yeah the rims are pretty heavy for what they are - essentially normal rims with half the material extracted. So I'd guess they should be pretty strong.
Captain Scarlet
For £400, I'd probably push my money a bit more and get a Koxx. But then again, that is still a lot of money compared to the price I payed for my current frame.Echo Team seems silly light, I can't wait to see that.Is there going to be an Echo Lite '09 or is it just a Team?
