javzi monty
Hey there, Ive been thinking and realised I've made some pretty pointless topics since joining this forum, so i have decided to try and turn a new leaf!I have thought, the best way i could do this is make a review of my bike, very detailed too!My bike is a 2007 Monty 221 PR with the Scotchbrite finish, this is quite an advanced bike and i reckon this kind of shows in the price, at £950 new this isn't the cheapest bike on the market, but trust me its worth every penny. I am running a dual Magura HS33 setup (04's) and find it is perfect for what i need, this is with Koxx Green's, my rear rim was ground at one point but the grind has over-time "Died" so i am also using tar on it! My Maggie's are water bled and i find this makes the lever so responsive. So what other parts are you running i may hear you ask! Well, my forks are Onza Light guys and they have withstood everything i have thrown at them.Up Front I am using a Zhi stem with Monty bars, this gives the bike a nice balance between smoothness and responsiveness. All this is transfered to my Chrisholm front rim on Onza hub through a Zoo! headset. My cranks are Echo isis, joined by a SFK bottom bracket. On this i have a front tensile freewheel with a Kmc gold chain, thus transferring drive to my Try All rim built onto a Monty Quando hub! It has a 1000mm wheelbase, 362mm of that is the Chainstay length. This bike has a BB rise of 50mm and a head angle of about 72/73 degrees. This is a nice short bike for me, I am around 5 and a half feet tall. At roughly 9 and a half kilos this is the lightest bike i have ever owned, and the nicest, it feels as if i can throw myself up anything and everything on it! I have only been riding 5-6 months, and i don't get out too often but from my latest video (shown on Ross Macd's page) Most of you will see i have made good progress on this bike! I would recommend it to anyone who is starting out but only if you know you are going to try and stick it, as £950 is a lot too blow on a bike you wont use! But even if you aren't just starting out it is still a very good bike to own!Any questions, just ask. Thanks for listening to this, Jarvis Edited August 21, 2008 by javzi monty

sstein
that must have taken you a lot of time (took me long enough hust to read it), but for future reference when you review something don't just name parts. Instead try and say what they are like to ride with, whether or not you like said part and for what reasons. For instance if I was to review my cranks I would say I run middleburn pro trials cranks in 170mm with an isis interface. I really love these cranks for many reasons, probably mostly because they are so stiff and strong even though they are incedibly light, etc...
