For me I hated iTunes because of the long winded way you put music on your iPod.

You've got your stylish little Creative Zen Stone Plus 2gb, you want to put some tracks on it:

1) Plug in MP3 player

2) Window pops up showing contents

3) Delete files I don't want / drag in files I do want on there

You've got your sleek looking 4gb iPod Nano:

1) Plug in iPod

2) Wait a f**king age for iTunes to load

3) Get spammed about new versions

4) Please wait while I auto sync to your iPod (PS, to turn this useless feature off, will take another 5 steps)

5) Go into library

6) Hunt for tracks because they have poor ID3 tags (Rather than if I was just storing them in a folder in Windows under album name)

7) Drag said files into a playlist / create a new playlist

8) Set iTunes to sync to this playlist

9) Wait for it to sync - Oh noes! You haz a WMA file - we cannot haz this!

10) Wait for iTunes to convert WMA to MP3

Hmm, I wonder which one I went for in the end.

pretty much the jist of it, itunes isnt user friendly from the off... end of the day its a simple task - why make it so complicated/slow?

Because I guess apple are a record label (?) and sell music they have to be seen to be stopping people from sharing stuff easily ? The wanky way in which you put stuff on is to prevent you from whacking 60GB of music on you ipod player and then going round your mates and transferring it to his computer. Thats how I see it anyway. But apple need to learn about the internet and the fact that it has changed the way people share music, and realize they are just making their music players crap for no real reason...

It's just them being ''over protective" on their music.

As a fact, they also now have the maximin copy codes in the songs now. Which although are very easy to get around, are really annoying. When they get uploaded they have no coding, just all the tags. Apple seem to mess it all up, per usual.

Apple the record label and Apple the computer manufacturer are two seperate entities, and there's a bit of bad blood between them, which is why you can't buy any Beatles music from iTunes.

Actually -

1) Plug in iPod

2) Wait a f**king age for iTunes to load

3) Look at the songs you want to load up - they should be in order if you care about the ID3 tags - and select them

3a) If you have a shuffle, you must either select all the songs or create a playlist, the shuffle takes a lot longer to transfer.

4) click and drag

5) eject

If it's a wma, it will convert it straight away as soon as you add it to the library.

I don't like WMP, iTunes is so much better laid out.

I tell you what, it pisses me off having many ID3 tags for one artist. For example, Lost Prophets, lostprophets, Lostprophets, LostProphets, and that's without typos. Then, when you scroll through your ipod, you have to enter each different version of the same artist to find the one song you want to listen to. If you changed them all to the same thing, they're all in the same place. YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE.

The only feature I wish iTunes had is a music queue.

I really miss that from WinAmp and others.

iTunes is fine, it's dead easy, and if you look after your library (which isnt exactly hard) all you need to do is create a playlist with whatever songs you want and tell it to put whatever is on that playlist on your ipod. If you have a lot of music, you can chop and change tracks much faster than having to drag and drop. If I only want 5000 out of 10000 songs, its much easier to put them in a playlist than it is to work my way through all the artist and album subfolders jsut to drag and drop. For a a 2Gb mp3 player I'm sure drag and drop is fine, but when you are messing around with 80Gb and you want to make sure you have room to use it as a portable HDD, and have a few videos and photos on there. I can manage it all from iTunes, so easily, so why wouldn't I?

I find iTunes fine to use. It loads quickly (I have a G5 Quad tower, old now but still kinda fast) and I have no issues with it at all. Not sure if people are looking into this waaay to much?

You don't have a mac do you.... Its very long winded for windows users, with a mac you plug it in and its done. Mine syncs through its dock.

That was an example!

I fix all the ID3 tags as soon as I put the songs onto iTunes. My Lostprophets songs are aaaaall nice and tidy.

I can drag and drop to my iPod, but it slows the computer down, so it breifly won't respond to anything. Thus, I prefer to use ctrl to select all the songs I want and drag and drop, or to use a playlist.

I'd not autosync cus there's only certain songs I like on my iPod - I don't really like songs that have slow, quiet intros on it because if it shuffles to them, I've got to wait before the music kicks in.
