IanJohnstone
Help! I have a chris king rear hub and i seem to have broken part of it..It still holds together and works fine if the wheels done up but the flange on the non-drive side just falls off when the wheel is loose??? im sure it didnt used to be like that....I origionally got this hub when my bike was replaced through an old insurer but because of this I don't know what shop the bike was from! And dont think i have a receipt..... Aren't King's guaranteed for like ten years?Any advice would be greatly appreciated, cheersIan
J Trials 31
You can get replaced, but don't tell them it was used on for trials or they won't warranty it.

I'm quite intrested in seeing this 'fallen off flange'...Alright, it's technically known as the adjusting cone you sarky tool. The axel end is supposed to thread onto the adjusting cone and then this assembly should screw onto the axel... but its doesnt, its as if it doesnt reach the thread of the axel.... or there is just no thread there to be screwed on to???Any helpfull comments are greatly appreciated.. JonMack
You've snapped your axle. I did the same thing many years ago. If you can afford it buy a HD axle from aspire
jambo
i have just done the exact same thing who is cheapest for the new axle?
grant_hundley
Alright, it's technically known as the adjusting cone you sarky tool.i dont really see what he said as being 'sarky', just he was interested about the fallen off flange. not his fault you were wrong...and i would strongly advise you not to go to evolution, they will charge you because they believe that chris king hubs cannot fail and its always the customers fault. go to aspire Edited August 18, 2008 by Grant-Hundley
Jason222
The adjusting cone is suppose to screw onto the main piece of the axle first, then the small end screws into the main axle piece. I screwed mine up today, I tightened that adjusting cone, and when tightening the axle, I heard a snap, and then it just turned freely. Time for a new axle I suppose...
