Elliot
Hey all, bought a an old style hope headset of ebay, which doesn't run particularly smoothly. I know that you can pick up bearings for the new style headsets, will they fit the old? And what are the chances of me actually getting the old bearings out of the headset?Ta,e. austen
Before going buying new bearings, have you tried greasing it? Just fill it with grease and see if it helps.Pm Adam@tarty about the bearings, he seems to have the answer for everything

I did speak to tarty, and they said the bearings are different to the new. So now the question is can I get the old ones out (they seem stuck in) and where can I get some new bearings for it? AdamR28
You'll really struggle to get the old ones out I believe, but best bet is to give Hope and call and see what they say. I am pretty sure they will have the bearings available.

I may try and do a wiki about it, either "using a dremel to replace you old style hope headset bearings" or "using a dremel to f**k your old style hope headset right up"!Cheers guys! Elliot
Thought I would add this as I was seriously impressed by it and I thought there may be some of you out there that this may apply to:Hi Elliot, You may have difficulty finding bearings as we no longer stock replacement bearings for the old headsets ourselves and they were made specially for us. However, what we are offering when we have headsets sent for service is an upgrade to the new cup style with new bearings for £23.50 plus postage. Effectively replacing all but the hed doctor. Let me know if this is an option that appeals or just send your headset in with a note asking for the service/upgrade. Waynio
usually you can heat the cups to expand the alloy and the bearings "fall out" in an ideal scenario.id just stick it in the frame and not worry about it. if its not too rough it wont feel bad on the steering.Wayne.
