Matthew_Gibson
Well basically, after a few weeks of thinking my BB was to balme. I found out that I was wrong. Long story..................(tarty boys have heard it too many time today!!) I need the washer that goes in the free hub bit, (cant remember where though) I dont think the one I have is the correct thinkness. Where can I get one from. and also if its a hardware shop job. whats the exact thickness??Think its about 3 or 4 mm thick.TAR Matt!
Adam-Griffin
Is it similar to the Little ring that comes on ffw cranks ? Got one of them if it's any use
Luke Rainbird
There's a 2mm one that sits just inside the freehub body? Can be found on CRC, or fashioned from something similar if needs be
N Roach
Do you mean the metal washer that sits inside the freehub, which stops the freehub touching the bearings? If so, Chainreactioncycles will have one.

Dan Jones
Was it missing then from taking the hub apart at some point and forgetting to put it back in? Edited August 13, 2008 by Dan Jones
Matthew_Gibson
when I put it back together. I lost it and could only find a 1.8mm one
AdamR28
Pretty sure 1.8 will be fine... it's just to stop the two bearings binding together Stick it together and find out!

When I tighten the wheel up it somehow squeeze the hub together
Luke Rainbird
The diameter of the bore and external diameter of the washer need to be pretty good for it to work, but I would imagine a 1.8mm should do fine if you can get those two rightSo long as it sits closely around the axle, and only comes into contact with the inner race of the bearings, all should be well
AdamR28
Hmm... have you had the hub apart? What exact order have you got stuff starting drive side and working towards the centre of the hub?

Luke Rainbird
It sounds like it - sits between the bearings (#'s 8 and 12) - if it's not there the freehub will be loose when you pul it, and the hub will tighten up (as in, freehub won't spin etc) when you tighten it up in the frame as doing it up will push it all together
Matthew_Gibson
f**ked the hub up, aw well, Needs to get the chain ring off first.I bashed it with a hammer. No good, disc sides f**ked! ...............shame
Luke Rainbird
Wait, what?! Why were you beasting it and how's it hurt?If it's just the disc mount, grind it off
