Krisboats
Fair enough, but your dad is obviously in the minority. Changes in taxes always makes winners and losers, but personally I'm glad that the government are recouping more money from idiots who drive 4x4s for the hell of it. Not that I'm counting your Dad in this - it sounds like he is one of the unlucky ones but someone will always lose out, as long as it's not me I don't care. Besides, the cost of tax in terms of the annual running costs of a car is pretty small. Land Rovers aren't particularly fuel efficient anyway so I'd imagine your dad's fuel bill runs pretty high...I actually lost out quite a lot when they changed the tax, because my car is a 1.6. If the engine was 40cc smaller, I'd save ~£80 a year on tax. D'Oh.Not as costly as it was when the cylinder heads cracked
Fishy
I've got a 4x4 as my first car, it's kind of acceptable because I live in country areas and will be towing bikes and trailers a lot. But then again it's not exactly a 3.5 td, environment killing, fuel drinking, waste. It's a 1.3 petrol .Do Panda's count in this new 4x4 tax? (I don't own a panda.) Elmo =)
i admit my dad drives a rangerover sport, but he only bought that because we do a lot of road trips and drives to like croatia and loads of long distance journeys and have to carry a lot of stuff bering in mind we have 4 people and camping gear for like 2 weeks worth, spares wheels and tools. And the reason my mum has one is because she has horses and haves to tow trailers up through the woods. plus we have landrovers because my dad gets discount because of some reason or another he wont tell me and we do a lot of off roading so meh. alot of people have different point of veiw about them, but to have a 4x4 in the city is plain right stupid its more hassel for you and the people around you, there wide/long which makes them harder to park with and takes up most of the road, but oh well theres nothing people can do about it but let down peoples tyres Edited August 19, 2008 by Elmo =)
