robster
I would go for it, Robbie is running some reds on cnc backings with a light grind, no issues at all with them. They seem to be lasting ok as well.JP
N.Wood
I hated my CNC-backed red pads, worst pads I've used since Koxx Yellows.Couldn't get them to work no matter what i did to them.

Jason222
Noooooooooooooooooooo! You have to let pads bed in before they start working properly, so by re-grinding your rim you've now got to let the grind sort itself out, then the pads wear into the grind, etc...Funny, I used the brake for about 3 hours of riding, and it only seemed to get worse. I regrinded today, and it's working amazingly. Actually a lot better than my rock pads now.

forteh
My cnc reds were crap until I took the brake booster off and now theyre absolutely stonking Ive had to thin them down to 4mm thick to get them to fit but steve@heastsink can supply refils new to a specified size if requested.Im running cnc vee cousts on a smooth front rim (mavic xc717 with standard machined sidewall) and its astonishing, loads of power and hold*, yet still with modulation and not too noisy - just a slight whine when slowing down, no honk honk thank god *and its not even running on the powerful setting on the sd7 lever
Jason222
Still testing the coust pads, not too impressed now. They're wearing down really fast since the fresh grind...still decent hold though, but could be better. Going to put the rock pads back on when these go (Should be soon, they're down to about 55~% pad left, after 3-4 rides).
