Andrex
They do actually work but the only hard thing is trying to get hold of them because I'm not sure if they are made any more.

forteh
or has any one got any idea i can get a thick sheet of rubber from?Section of old tyre, cut the bead and part of the sidewall off and ziptie it to your downtube, wont stop the major dents (tube folders) but it does stop some small dings and scrapes

ti-mig-guy
I use a piece of plastic PVC pipe, cut in half, then zip tied on. CHEAP!
Sean___John
I've used foam pipe lagging in the past absorbed impact enough to stop the frame from denting, i just taped it on with electrical tape because i thought it looked better then if it was zip-tied on.and its cheap you can get it from your local B&Q as well Sean.
