Moving to a house in September for Uni where I'll be sharing with another 4 people and I'll need internet setting up

Just interested to know which ISP most students on here are using..

Obviously need something cheap and ideally looking for wireless for all 5, any ideas?

Sky?

Sky has better customer service than Virgin, and you might get a good deal with the telly too, which could be useful, sports channels and the like.

Wireless, if you buy a router, it would be a good investment as you can take it to your next house. Or you could all pool in, they're not that expensive, specially if there's 5 of you.

The package deals aren't really that great, and work out being a little bit expensive for what they are. You'd be better doing things seperately, at least that way if your all downloading things you can switch internet provider without losing the tv channels too.

Though if you just go with bethere/o2 broadband then you won't need to change.

We're about to move to a new supplier with; unlimited downloads - free laptop - free wireless router - fastest connection possible on our line too.

Also, no line rental from BT (Y).

I'll get some more info off my housemate when he gets back.

When you say no line rental do you mean it's cable? (as is the case with mark)

Line rental and having to pay BT£120 is what's putting me off organising it. For now i'm using the computer's in the uni library

Ours isn't cable, I don't think. Cable is NTL etc if I recall.

Line Rental only applies to the other type, if I remember rightly.

Either way - yeah, we won't have to pay with these new people.

Cable is ntl and virgin media, think some sky packages might include cable too but i'm not quite sure. Most broadband uses a telephone line and therefore is line rental, fibre optic and cable don't have it.

Me and my three housemates are going with a Sky broadband, TV and phone package, isn't necessarily the cheapest (or fastest option) but it means we get it all on one bill and were just not very organised.

Yes, to the extent that were paying more for less.
