Mark W
I don't get why he'd keep the top-cap and pre-load bolt on after tightening his stem up? It not being on his bike is gonna be lighter than nibbling at it with a drill, surely? Just keep it in the toolkit then if, for some reason, you actually need to tighten the headset you still can?Equally, seems weird that it's not radially laced on the non-disc side of the front wheel, although I guess with the amount of drilling in the flange it'd possibly tear it a new one... Rich Pearson
Equally, seems weird that it's not radially laced on the non-disc side of the front wheel, although I guess with the amount of drilling in the flange it'd possibly tear it a new one...Personally I was thinking, "who the f**k does all that drilling to a frame and still runs a bloody great front disc instead of a V?!"And theres more that could be taken off them pedals aswell: have a look at and see if you can spot it..Rich
JonMack
And theres more that could be taken off them pedals aswell: have a look at and see if you can spot it..RichCool, he's taken the whole outer edge off.

James Quigley
surely under any real stress the rear hub will twist?you say the guys riding it big, I just wonder about the accuracy of that comment. One last thing, does that rear wheel need truing every ride, I know of someone who has just taken the inner wall out (no squaring of the holes etc) and the wheel is always buckling at any hint of an uneven landing. 1337 Trials
:| Seems abit extreme ? haha yer. I bet the rider is like a small kid or something. LOL!

that NBR dude
UPDATE, Cracks. ... the rim is in use since 2005, so being a bit old it started to crack ...Yea, thats why it cracked...
grant_hundley
Yea, thats why it cracked... well the rim is 3 years old.... if it was new then singlewalls and holes filed square it might have lasted longer....
that NBR dude
Maybe but Im not too sure. Theres really not a lot of materal left there to hold the stress of being tensioned, without adding the weight of the rider on top of that. Granted it might have lasted a "bit" longer if it was new, but I can't see it being long before the same happens.
Tomm
One thing's for sure, it had nothing to do with those huge holes. The question is - when he rebuilds his wheel, will he give the same treatment to his new rim?
