BONGO
They should make a go on a skid pan part of your test that would be fun.people would fail on purpose to do it again!
anzo
Recorded at around 34 million with full licences in 2006, I'm not sure how many people are taking tests this year, but with the 6 week average waiting list, I'm guessing its a lot. They cannot keep up with current demand for tests, let alone 5-10 year retakes! Scotty Evil1
people knew what i meant, and so did you, yet you still commented saying you didn't understand what i meant! On a similar note, but in biking, if you're into your racing you may know that Craig Jones had a terrible crash yesterday at Brands Hatch in WSB. Unfortunately this morning he passed away. RIP.http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sp...us-head-injury/Dad told me about this today, terrible news was heading for great things aswellOn topic-I dont think it is too hard, especially when I of all people pass first time! lol
anzo
You drive to YOUR limits, and YOUR CARS limits. And if you havnt' driven long enough or had experinces to learn the limits, you DO NOT try.You appear to be going in two directions there...how do gain the experience of my 'limits' if I shouldn't push them? For the rest of it, I'm sorry but I don't think you should be calling the shots on when its 'safe' to push yourself; despite your glittering racing career. 'Safe' being the bullshit word here, nobody actually wants to crash at high speed, but they did so then because they thought it was safe - much like what you're telling me now.Keep your high speeds on the track, and not where my family and friends travel each day... Boswell
Its easy for you 20+ lot to say "Don't let 17 year olds drive" isnt it! I think it should stay 17 as if you drive like an idiot you are most likely to get punished, its what the laws are ther for.
JT!
Like it's been said, you don't get taught how to drive, only how to pass. THAT'S what's wrong, as not everyone realises this and goes out thinking they are Lewis Hamilton, and end up being Ayrton Senna.I agree with that, i mean, your not allowed on the motor way till you pass! Where's the sence in that!?I think the test is about right, i feel the main problem we have is idiots who drive unlawfully / dangerously. No matter how hard you make the test they're still going to forget all what they've learnt 2 months down the road anyway. What should be done is make the rules much more strict to put people off speeding etc altogether. If you get caught on a phone whilest driving. You should be banned for 6 months. Then no one would do it.

On a quite dry motorway i see no issue with doing 85 or 70 on some big a roads however its just people dont realise how fast they are going for some condtions. Thats the problem with speed limits, no one thinks for themselves anymore or has common sence, they jsut see a sign that says 60 on it so drive at 60 no matter what the conditions are cause that must be ok. Saying that30 limits in residential areas are required, possibly even dropping to 20 in the wet Edited August 5, 2008 by 26inch

On an open motorway doing 85mph isn't really a big deal. I'm aiming more at people who do 40 in a 30 zone in the middle of town.
RobinJI
Lets see what hazards caused by other people I had on my 18 mile drive home from ben moores house earlier:A van didn't indicate off a roundabout causing me to believe there was a clear space, only to have to stop again.A Mondeo was parked on double yellows blocking my view as I pulled out of the petrol station.A mercedes coming towards me completely miss judged the width of his car forcing me to stop suddenly and allow him through a space there should easily of been room for both cars to pass in. (the hazard was on his side of the road giving me right of way)Funnily enough another mercedes did exactly the same thing on the next narrow section.Another mercedes then pulled out from in front of a shop (on street parking) while still indicating left, then turned right wile still indicating left. A van was parked on a slight bend making it blind and one lane.A passat in front of me slowed to walking pace well before turning into an open swooping junction causing me to reduce to a crawl while sat in poor visibility in the wet on a blind section of 60 limit road.My point being, the main things were bad parking, bad judgment and lack of signaling, but none of it was people who had just passed, none of it was boy racers (although I'm sure as hell not defending them) its was just generally poor drivers who had other things on there mind and had slipped into bad habits and stopped thinking about other road users. In my mind this kinda shows jack shit about the driving test, but that at the end of the day they were all human and made mistakes, some genuine, some caused by lack on consideration, but there not about to stop because of some magic test, the roads are always gunna have hazards, so learn to do the best you can not to be one of them and to always be prepared for other drivers to cock up, and know how to react correctly when they do. 26inch
people not indicating on roundabouts really grinds my gears if it were up to me you;d get 12 points and a slap for not indicating properly Edited August 6, 2008 by 26inch
