weebryan
I normally use rubber ones (try-all) so i got some foam grips from halfords for a change and any time i am out in the wet they start turning. I dont use the end plugs as i like to grip the bars at the end so water gets underneath and they turn, any ideas? I thought foam would be better during the summer for sweaty hands
PaRtZ
Well for a start put them plugs in! Theres nothing more fun than falling off and being impaled on your own handlebars! As for keeping them still, try hairspray or laquer or tar. Most people opt for laquer/spray paint or hairspray option

16 years later
Well I had rockman foam grips never ever moved in the wet. But not as comfy I have bad wristsThen got Halfords foam grips put two on each side comfy as f**k. But slide around like f**k in the wet. But I never really ride that much in the wetSo you might want to try some different gripsBruce
Ross McArthur
super glue, your bars are f**ked anyway.

Muel
Nah I've had Rockmans, they're nice, but too thin for me. Only 28mm where as the TrialTechs are 30mm. It's down to personal preference though.
16 years later
yeah they were way to thin for me and that was the thick ones. I use two of the halfords on each side very comfy

Matthew_Gibson
Get trialtech foams, they are so tight on the bar, they will never move for anything!that man speaks the truth! The halfords ones are alright, but too thick and too soft. they will wear out in no time, had loads in the past
Muel
Oh yeh, I know my shit!I also found the rockmans too soft, I could feel the bar through them too much, and they wore to fast. The Trialtechs have been great so far.
spaceman
Hmm, I just thought of something. If you use hairspray to hold the grip in place, and then you ride in the wet, wouldn't the water "dissolve" the hairspray? It happened to a few guys who did it at my side, xc riders mostly. JonMack
I put my try-alls on with WD40 then left them overnight.
onzaboyjake
Bigman told me the other day at a ride that he spray paints the bars underneath and applys the grips. I pressume they just bond together once the paint has dried. Wont last forever mind. Nothing ever does.Jake
Rumplestiltskin
Slather some spray paint inside the grips, slide them onto the bars and leave to dry for 15 minutes. I've done this with Halfords foam grips and it works a treat. Once they've worn out you might want to consider a different brand of foam grip though - I've noticed the Halfords ones become really baggy and detach from the painted bars as they get more worn. Monty and Trialetch ones stay tight untill they're destroyed, even if they're put on without paint.

Chris Woodhouse
When i got my try all foams they looked like they were never going to fit as ther were about 1mm or so too small, just stretched it over and never moved at all even in wet just dry them off and they were fine, try all along with monty, rockman and french ID are all around 28mm wide so guess they all work as well.Obviously a little more than halfords but i'd say it was well worth it.
