Bb7 Problems

Ok after all this time ....went for a bb7......184 on viz forks.....so yeah i wack it all together ......been out on bike for a total of 2hrs......it rubs shed loads and power .well it dont bite its wank ....

brake is new.....cannot be contaminated.....any trics of the trade to hel along bedding in process?

Thanks for that tutorial vid! Woah, this brake is a lot simpler than I ever thought, even more so than my super old BB5 on my stock...!

Just need to ask you disc technies out there :)...

I'm building a bike up in China so I can ride with my friends there, if my first 2 options fail, I'm going for a DD mod. Thing is, all hydro brakes are imports from the West, so the price is ridiculously high in China, so I have to go for a BB7 to keep price down.

Will having 180mm BB7s on the front and back be far too powerful for just a double-disc mod? Seeing as people say the 160mm is horrendously powerful enough already. I'd rather not the extra unnecessary power if a 160mm is already powerful enough, since bigger rotors kill forks and frames fastish.

wet mud/muddy water. specifically quantock mud (might be a bit awkward for you to get some though!) on the rotor it'll rub for a bit, but the water and dirt act as an abrasive removing the top layer of pad amterial and beds in the rotor surface slightly. always worked for me on all my bikes.

watched the video........done all that.went out side just now to ride......5 mins later i added water to the rotor pads and caliper.....instantly i get thrown over the bars.....now the brake is actually working guess now all i need is time for it to bed in 100%

ummm. when i got mine it didnt work properly at first.... i soon realized that it was because the pads werent hitting the disc square. so try readjusting them. just undo the two fine adjustment bolts and pull the lever then do them up......... i mean youve probably done that seeing as your mister my bike is perfect. lol. is really strange seeing you with a trouble thread. haha

No it won't be overally powerful. People have found with bb7s that if they use a 160 on the rear the power isn't surficent and you need a 185.

From what I've seen with trials disks they seem to actually need to get a bit of dirt on them every so often to stay working correctly. I'm running an ORO K18 on my bike and the bite was pretty good even from new, but after a day or two the brake stopped holding properly. I rubbed some dirt on the disk, dragged it a bit and it came back to full power immediately. Looks like trials keeps the disks too clean for them to stay working :S...
