lil Jsy Chris
Haha nice find there My mate once ran out of tar and was looking for something else to put on his rim so he found this massive gold pen and drew on himself and was really hard to get off and made him all sticky. So he decided to put some on his rim and it worked really well actually
Skorp
The only replacement I found that worked better than tar was the ability to set up a brake well (And a grind )Qft!I have actually tried everything above..Except the monty brakespray (i was affraid to use the grinder lol)Alot of sugar and hot water works fine, and hair spray works good But nothing is better than Heatsink reds and a massive grind! Mark W
For all you dudes using tasty carbonated beverages on your rims, save them for drinking - all you need to do is make up a glucose solution Just boil up some water, then stir in sugar to it 'til it's saturated (i.e. no more goes in). Wait for it to cool a bit, then dip something like kitchen towel or similar in it, then wipe it on your rim. It's sticky as hell, and works pretty well. Did it when I was waiting to use someone's grinder and had no tar.

stpatr3k
I bet Ryan Leech uses Maple Syrup... Given that honey is water soluble I'm guessing that at the first sign of wet the braking will disappear though, probably no worse that tar, but given a grind needs less minding and isn't as sensitive to the wet for the Irish/UK climate there is no other choice for me...If you get caught in a light drizzle you will discover how dirtier they are than tar. The aluminum that had come off from your rim are sticking to the honey (or coke) and will begin to drip out of the rim with the water.Water is like an off switch. Your brakes immediately disappears . Ross McArthur
that monster drink stuff is deadly. better off putting it on your rims and no where near your insides.or just a clean well set up brake with decent pads on a smooth rim. I dnt know how many times uve seen people asking for advice n brake
