Skoze
Firstly, welcome to the forum I've been riding on and off for a year or two and i absolutely love the sport! As for your bike, it's a great choice to learn on! Decent spec, good geo, can't go wrong really!I ride a street-orientated stock (26") and have my tyres at around 25psi so it'll roll nicely for spinny streety moves, yet still holds on to walls etc well. It's personal preference really. Pump it up, ride, hop around a bit and if you don't like it, let a little air out. Repeat until you find what you're comfortable with Feel free to add me on msn if you've got any questions or just want someone to talk to Matt
radgie
wow really sent out the rapid response team here you guys post fast thats great, thank you for the information to all of you, i was considering making some sort of box not too big but something to practise on until i let my self lose in the real world just to get my balance right. i did take my bike to tynemouth (damn it was a long trip) especially with the gear ratio i tried getting the front wheel up on a pillar and holding it there for a bit but slipped and dented my new bike , but the bike has gone back to the shop now as the brakes were leaking and the handle bars were moving when i was breaking so i haven't got it back yet, and with all this nice weather just makes me want to go nuts on the streets ( even though i cant ).just a thought with the age thing i was reading a post on here about how old people are and i know it doesn't really matter about your age i say do what you want when ever but i would really like to learn off other people and go some place to practise with them but might seem weird if I'm 3 times their age , also any tips on first moves like basics to know first before attempting others, that i should know of, thanks lads
Skoze
Ignore the age gap! Everyone's in it for the same reason, so why should it matter? The box idea is good, lots of people get palets/crates from industrial estates to practice on Start off with trackstands, then try rocking onto the backwheel and hopping etc. Just various things until you're comfortable on the bike! Also, have a look on Trashzen for tips and other things to learn If you want to go and unleash yourself on the streets, just go do it! It's the only way to learn!!Matt
radgie
thanks skoze, about the age thing i guess your right f*** it , the reason i don't want to go out on the street just yet is i dont want to trash my bike straight away so i thought if i make a box its wood so it wont damage my bike as much and just so i get the feel of my bike before i start side hopping post boxes .how long did it take you ...and others reading to learn to hop?
