Obviously both disciplines have their differences so I won't get the perfect bike for both but i'll give it a good go! What would you reccomend, baring in mind I'm after gears and ideally front suspension? So far I've looked at Specialized P2, Mongoose Ritual and Fireball, Commencal Absolut 2 and a couple of others. Thanks
ti-mig-guy
That has a dropped bottom bracket. You will find that trials bike's have a raised bottom bracket. Do a search for bottom bracket and geometry, and have yourself a little read. The BB is a big deal in trials bikes, and it will affect your ability to learn back wheel moves, side hops, etc. I believe most riders would say that that's not a great choice for trials, but if you wanna dirt jumping I have no opinion about that. (other than trials is soooo much more fun, you should do trials.)
otaylor38
that looks like a nice bike if you are going to take up dirt jumping alone. i do not think that would be very good at trials.also i dont really like the forks and if you are going to use it for dirt jumping then it would probably be better if you had suspension forks but if you are doing trials then no suspension is th way to go.although that is only my oppinion.Hope that helpedOli

So far I've looked at Specialized P2, , Mongoose Ritual and FireballDon't go near a mongoose mate, there heavy as hell and are pretty much crap. You should look on ebay for a second hand dmr, identiti, 24seven etc, as they are popular + amazing bikes and you can get a good spec'ed one for dirt cheap. I'll keep you all posted on how I get on as I will be getting the Hardrock first and then gradually buy bits for the trials bike.well you seem like your posts are those of a full member, so by the time you need to get bits for the trials rig you should be able to pick second hand bits up from classifieds. Definately better to get second hand stuff for trials when you're starting out.. you'll be amazed how much you break stuff while you're learning and it's much better to scratch something that's already scratched than sit around pissed off at how much part x cost... Jake Beach
It looks pretty good especially if it comes with a single-speed kit. Pinnicale are also quite good
