Problems With Bike (brake /chain)

Hi all,

Well i recently got my first bike of Ebay and it was fine at first however no there are 2 problems which are preventing me from riding , I was wondering if anyone knows the solution.

First problem is with my bikes chain, when i pedal it works fine then all of a sudden it will stick, locking up when this happens it also makes my back wheel feel very heavy. I have looked at my chain and it seems to be in working order.

My second problem is with my rear brakes I am running Magura's rim brakes and they don't seem to be pushing out as they should, they don't extend, I cannot see any leaking etc.

So they are my 2 problems, sorry for the lack of technical languages as im new to biking so don't know all the part names yet etc

Well no1 it could be anything in your drive chain e.g bb grinding cranks or rear wheel not set up properly or simply the chain

no2 sounds like you need to get it rebled and put abit of wd40 down the piston to lube it

thanks for making this topic mate because my monty is doing exactly the same with the rear wheel keep locking up & can hardly move on the back wheel

just make sure the wheel is set up in the centre of the frame then aline the brakes so they dont rub.

To sort out your second problem do as the other guy said and put some lube like WD 40 or GT 85 on the piston and keep squeezing the lever, this should help.
