My First Time Doing Natural

Went out on my bike today, and instead of turning left (towards all the street stuff) I went right (to try and find some natural stuff). Had to go about a mile on single speed to find some good stuff. Eventually I did. On my first go, I was crap. I then realised how hard it is. After a couple of attempts on some logs. (Some moto trials people used to use the place) started enjoying myself. I realised I'd have to ride it differently from street because I was focusing on wheel positioning a lot more. (Also found out I nedd to get some new tyres) After alf an hour, I started pushing myself a lot more and going out of my comfort zone. I did my first biggish drop of about three to four feet. I know this isn't big compared to some people, but for me it was big, especially since it was my first time not landing on secure concrete. I know a lot of people say natural's boring (like me) but I found it just as fun, dare I say it, funner than street. Besides, you can apply spins and street moves in natural. Plus, it's nice not having people get in the way. I'll be going there a lot more. Everyone that hasn't tried natural should.

Someone even dumped a load of wood there so could set up some obstacles!

Yay dumping law breakers!

im glad you enjoyed it... nice of you to tell the forum too :P Expect possible flaming haha

Still its good, I really hate riding tre trunks, especially in damp conditions. I swear I clench my arse everytime I sidehop onto a slippery log

Keep at it!

Would love to have some decent natural to ride, theres bugger all round here really :(

There are some large boulders concreted into the carpark at the local aldi that are pretty fun to try different lines across but hopping over the same 5 rocks can get pretty boring pretty quickly.

Must start looking further a field and find somewhere in the near vicinity with some natural :)

Just don't fall off riding natural. Its so so much easier to avoid hurting yourself riding street (same goes for hurting your bike for that matter).

True, but the more you ride it, it becomes much easier to bail properly, spotting where to put your feet before you jump off the pedals (Y)

i would love to try natural...but unfortunately for me in living in china where there doesnt seem to be anything natural...anywhere.

where i come from in england (derbyshire) must be loads of natural riding but i only got into trials when i came to china (mostly because i can afford a good bike here)

guess im missing out on alot here :(

you just discovered the best bit of trials!! I cant imagine not riding natural, its soooo fun!

Exactly! Going up into the mountains on Monday to the best natural spots in the country. 14 days of riding ONLY natural with about 30 different riders from around the country. Trials can't get any better than that.
