JonMack
http://www.yell.com/ucs/UcsSearchAction.do...el+FabricationsGive them a ring. Also, this is trials forum, how the hell are we supposed to know who your local metal fabricators are, and how much they charge. There isn't like a one-stop shop for welding like Halfords, and we don't have price lists for every fabricator in the entire world. Try doing some f**king research before posting on here. I just went to Yell.com, it's not exactly hard! Edited July 23, 2008 by Mark King

anzo
ok thanx :$ and if it gets welded would it ever crack in the same place or around the weld?Yes. I don't know too much on this subject but I would imagine welding a crack weakens the material more so due to the heat involved, making it more likely to snap again in the same place. Obviously you won't crack the welding, but it would crack next to it.Theres plenty of these sort of topics knocking about, have a search and find peoples input

Obviously you won't crack the welding, but it would crack next to it.Theres plenty of these sort of topics knocking about, have a search and find peoples input Kinda right. If the weld is heat-treated, it can often become significantly stronger than the weld before , if you're going to deal with a decent welder/fabrication company, heat-treating should take place, and if it does you have nothing to worry about. Get a gusset welded where the crack was
Captain Scarlet
Adding to that, depending on the area of the bike and the kind of weld applied it could easily crack again. If its welded like the gusset on the old T-Pro frames it won't be long until a stress fracture appears as due to the amount of welding on the gusset, all the stress inflicted on that area of the frame has nowhere to disperse as it has been welded all the way around, only way for this stress to disperse is a fracture which then eventually becomes a crack.Welding would also involve strengthening an equal area of the frame, as a weld will be a strong point and the oposite side will be a weak point. This happened my mate's old echo team frame, it cracked on the chainstay and as well as welding had to be strengthened on either side and either end of the chain stay.
