Ezg_Cannuck
Just curious to see how many of you ride with caged pedals and how many with platform pedals. Sorry for the repition etc, first poll posting.(Also, which brand and why?) Cheers Edited July 22, 2008 by Ezg_Cannuck
psycholist
DMR V8's because anything else I've tried is nowhere near as good to grip on and V12's develop play in the crank side bushing pretty quickly from new - and I don't really care about the weight saving. Daniel C
do you like doing polls or something?
TrialZonn
I personally ride with Onza Shin Dig.They are a little heavier than a pair of caged pedals but they offer very nice grip.(I use shin pads because they really do what their name says sometimes)
Skoze
Currently using DMR V12 mags, and they've got a bit of play in them, so i'll get some V8s soon Can't stand caged pedals, pretty grippy but seem to just fall apart!
Reinis.
I ride VP caged pedals, but next I think I gonna get platform pedals, because my caged ones are too weak.
The Duck
Wellgo MG-1s any day of the week. Shit all over V8s, V12s, VPs...
psycholist
Since Wellgo make the DMR pedals that might not be a big surprise... I love the greaseport on the V8 though - I got 5000 miles of XC riding from one set before I had to tighten the bearings...

jay2008
V8's also - even without the removeable pins their grippy as fook and they don't damage my legs as much now! lol
thewoomaster
You cant go wrong with DMR V12's or 8's
El Cristoff
Some cheapy wellgo platforms, do the job
MadManMike
I'm shocked that nobody has made uber light pedals for trials - I run V8's on my DMR and it's fine but I'd have thought weight-savers would have developed something a little lighter, V8's are fairly heavy
Ben John-Hynes
Some cheapy Wellgo cage jobbies.Had them since 2004 and they're still running mint!

_Owen.
My cage pedals were ok at first (cheapy vp ones). But after a few weeks of having them, the cages started to snap, bolts rip out and ended up with them snapping on me! Im by no means a massive rider, and was surprised at how short period of time they lasted me, as i know a few of the top riders use them. I then went to a set of new v12's, which to be honest, were utter w*nk! All the pins fell out after about 2 weeks, and the onesthat were left, felt real loose, no grip left whatso ever. So then i went to a set of new v8's, and same problem as with the v12's, loads of pins fell out. Not as many as on the v12's, so still useable, but i was still shocked at how easily they fell out. Now i have gone back to a set of old v8's i had in my garage. About 3 years old, not one pin missing, still smooth, and are working awsome. Very very impressed with them. By far the best pedals i have ever had. P*ss all over them v12's i had. Owen
casualjoe
I wanna get these next.. http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/product/8043/Fly_Ruben_Pedals ..should be sweeet
Echo-Scott
I've always used cages and find them very good. Cages last quite a while for me(about 9months to a year), aslong as you tighted the bolts every now and again and try not to smash them off things they will be fine. Jason222
1664 pedals are lighter than wellgo mags, and have longer pins + better grip. Although, I'm using Mg1's right now...
Matt_Thibeau
I have caged pedals and one of the screws striped, so i zip tied the body to the cage, no problems at all!
2sixstreet
DMR V8's. I was looking around for something different to reduce the shin carnage when I slipped and something that didnt lose so many pins but there was nothing I fancied that didn't cost the national debt of a small country. For a couple of quid I replaced all the pins with M5 stainless grub screws and havent had a problem since. Made great pedals into awesome ones. psycholist
Having used platfom pedals and V8's I'd say your chances of shin carnage are significantly less with the V8's for two reasons; firstly, you're a lot less likely to slip off in the first place (A lot of platform pedals are high enough off he pedal axle that they can roll out from under your feet) and pedal pins don't seems to do as much damage as beartrap pedal cages when they do hit.
