JD™
How cheap? i've seen it at £4.99 a year, but wouldn't spend less than about £20 at the moment. I'll see whether I can did out the dirt cheap place if you want, but it was only a quick google for cheap hosting.
UrbanPoet
You need some kind of web server software, like IIS or Apache. I wouldn't bother though.
JD™
I just logged into an old email address, and had an offer from a company I used to use (who were very reliable). Hosting with them was £20, but they've sent me a re-usable and distributable voucher code which gets you £5 off, which is pretty handy.Voucher Code: JULY15Dwww.web-mania.comsorted. 531joshua
There's no way in hell your home based internet connection would be anywhere near fast enough to run your own web server from it. Like everyone says, just buy some cheap shared hosting for 20 quid.

tomturd
Download 'wamp'. Install, right click the tray icon and 'put online'.Then you should be able to go to your IP and you're done.Wouldn't bother myself though. Its cheaper to buy hosting. Krisboats
There's no way in hell your home based internet connection would be anywhere near fast enough to run your own web server from it.It would, but its speed would depend upon whats on it. A webpage and online file store for images for example would be fine if its for personal use, but if it was free for anyone on the net it would run out a lot quicker.Anyway, he didn't say he was hosting a webserver, he said he was hosting a site. Anything with an upload of over 100k would be more than ample for displaying a web page for a non-heavy traffic site.
