tmks88
i have avid ultimate armsXTR leverXTR cablesheatsink v adapters heatsink red v padsand BT 6.0 framethe bite is very good but it doesnt hold as well as i would like to, like in this kind of situation it will slipi thought that when putting on echo v brake booster it will work like this? because i can see some flexing in the frame when pulling the leverso is there a point of getting an echo v brake booster or not? Ben John-Hynes
Yes and no.A booster can sometimes make a brake worse.I think that a grind would sort out any lack of hold.
Andrew Smith
Yes and no.A booster can sometimes make a brake worse.I think that a grind would sort out any lack of hold.well he has a vee so yes it will 100% help with hold but it will lose most of the actual 'bite' but gain hold pm Ali C if unsure he is vee expert i think
tmks88
ill just buy one and see what happensand im using a grind and sometimes even adding a bit of tar
trials_pimp
If you want that sort of hold go for a magura.Set up correctly there is nothing that can beat them.Yes I know V brakes are lighter, but weight isnt everything. If your intent with sticking to a V I would reccamend a Move over to an XTR brake. They bite extreemly well and are very stiff.
tmks88
i changed magura to a V because my magura didnt had enough holdnow my V brake is a lot better but still not good enoughand i prefer the simple mechanics over hydraulic brakes

Also, the arms don't (entirely) determine how much a brake bites! To the original poster: Your setup sounds pretty much spot on really. If there's a lot of noticable frame flex then the booster will most likely help, though I'd certainly recommend getting a light grind (nothing much mind!)It should help both the bite and hold of the brake, but may well make it a little louder unfortunately
tmks88
got my booster now, had to file it wider 1-2mm thoughmakes my bike 120g heavier but it does work like ive always wanted a rear brake to work, bite is so much better and it sounds a bit different too, before it sounded like a loud magura, now its more like a magura sound mixed with a mouse squeaking (sounds good though)and about the hold.......ITS JUST AWESOME i rode about 15min with it and tried gapped to 3 pallet high curbs as low as i could and it didnt even made a slight slip! it holds like GillesĀ“s brake on the picture!im really happy with it!
