Errr... Yeah.

Not really... Blurry in terms of motion blur, or blurry in terms of OOF?

Bit blurry in a sense of, ooh my face has stretched because of the slow shutter speed. Some of them are great, just overall they're brought down a bit by the odd few blurry ones intermingled.

Try to get your exposure meter central before taking shots, a few of them have skies completely blown out, usually these are the ones that are blurry too.

Thing is though your shooting in daytime, not night time. Its used at night to create ambience by increasing detail in what you see around the subject. You did it during daytime where your ending up removing detail by leaving the sky over exposed.

There are some decent ones in there though, just have a badger at getting the images lined up... or at least lining them up on photoshop afterwards so the horizon line/buildings aren't all skewed up to f**k.

This one for example, blown out in a lot of places... The t-shirt, bits of the sky... the floor etc. Whack your f-stop up a bit to around f9-f11 and then sort out ambient light with a slower shutter speed. During daytime the flash should freeze the motion well enough so the rider stays nice and crisp without overblowing everything.

Lighting wise you have it spot on with this one...

Tell you what, have you tried taking the pics in RAW mode too? You might have your exposure compensation set a bit funky which would leave your jpegs over exposed a bit, if you shoot in RAW you should be getting an unprocessed file and it should come out normal.

I think I spend more time cropping and rotating than I do taking them. lol

  • 2 weeks later...
pictures look good, riding looks good.

a rather random question, on my Ashton that i bought second hand there a long large sticker on the down tube that has think bikes on it.

did any of you used to ride a black Ashton? haha

Hah. Sounds like Darren "Lee" Hill's. He screwed his leg up and his been out of riding for the past year. He should be getting back into it at Christmas.
