Limewire :s

Recommended Posts

Mines being a fanny and not showing search results :S

Opens up fine and stuff but when I go to download it just doesn't show any results after the blue bar thing is full, which it should.

Anyone esle having this problem, or others?

And I'm using the pro version :)

Haha thats impossible, you have to pay for limewire pro. You can only get basic free.

No it isn't, you can download Limewire Pro by using Limewire. Search for Limewire Pro inside Limewire and you can download it.

I wouldn't use either, both virus-ridden and full of nasty ripped tracks.

Go buy your music!

Also, ISP's are gradually all blocking Limewire and other P2P programs that use that network. So I'm afraid you're not gonna be able to use it.

Yeah, doesn't work for me at all anymore, but after a nasty Trojan last year, I've kind of stopped using it.

P2P programs would never be able to be blocked in reality though - if they did, MSN wouldn't work for a start, plus, any file transferring between PC's would be stopped also. And if you are using this program to get music, only ever gets WAVS, because the mp3's contain nasty horrible things which give you aids.

Also back to the problem, have you made sure that the port that limewire is using isn't blocked by your router, and now ISP's are blocking the port, therefore you should go to settings and change the port number.

Anyway, if you're on a network, you'll need to forward a specific port in your router. This process is different for every router, so your best bet would be to go to http://www.portforward.com and find your specific model of router and the program you are using (in this case Limewire) and instructions will be provided at the site.

If you aren't on a home network, it could be issues with the server(s) you're trying to connect to, or you are just too far away from them to get a decent connection.

Possible?

Meh - google :)

Portforwarding is the job......when/if you can get it working. Before changing any of your router/IP settings make sure to write your current settings down. Took me a lot of trial and error to get it right.

EDIT: You also need to set up a static IP address

Wrong. msn and normal file transefers use different ports to limewire and most p2p networks also use different ports to each other meaning effectively if the isp blocked the network they could easily change the port used however the programs would never interfere.

But, in saying that. If this is the ISP's blocking the ports so limewire doesn't work, limewire technically could somehow make their ports identical to the MSN/Filesharing ports, thus then the only way being to stop it all together?

Have a gone off in the wrong direction? Haha. Correct me if I have!
