Sam Nichols
Im going to attempt to type the sound that hub is going to make when you attempt to ride trials with it..VIZZZZZZZZ
16 years later
Im going to attempt to type the sound that hub is going to make when you attempt to ride trials with it..VIZZZZZZZZI did not say that i was going to use one did I. Seeing that it has 120 eng and it is good to have a high eng in trials. I just wanted to say that I was impressed that it had 120 eng. I my self have a CK 72 eng and 120 is quite a bit more but I’m not swapping my CK for one. I also just wanted to see what people thought.I am wondering if CK will make a hub with 120eng well higher than 72 anyway
26inch
from seeing the pawl type things on it i wouldnt trust it at all, added to the fact it says halo on it im going to suggest it is the least appropriate hub ever for trials use
JonMack
72 reliable engagements > 120 unreliable engagements.

Greetings
How many of you CK users have ever wished your hub had more engagements?

JonMack
108 at the pedals is enough for me!
EchoSam
Sounds quite nice. But if you run a front freewheel you could allways buy the same freewheel as me (Try-all) with 108 engagement points and 9 paws. for about half the price. Which logically sounds like a better money saving plan.Tom

JT!
Once you get to 72 ep at the pedals i don't really think it makes any difference if you had infinte engagment. I've used a eno and a try-all and i didn't notice a difference.Reliability is where it's at now, not EP.

bitemybutt
I've got to say I rode Hope hubs for years no problems, then went to using Kings. It made very little difference to my riding, if any at all. I think when it comes to engagement points the higher the numbers get, the harder it is to notice any difference. In my opinion, Halo are using the EP's to sell the hub, ie the WOW factor. People have tried to out-do Chris King before (RB designs etc) and not succeeded. It will be interesting to see how well they perform (if anyone is feeling daring enough to buy one!).
matt rushton
I see i just thought the more eng the betterTo an extent thats right, but it's like most things, too much= problems.
PaRtZ
like sex. Too much = erectile dysfunctionWhoever it was above who said "its reliability, not quantity" has pretty much hit the nail on the head. I mean, last years koxx days, if vincent had ENO then maybe this wouldn't have happend
psycholist
Superstar components sell a hub called the superleggera which is the same as this but costs £10 less... I have one on my Giant Trance after the axle in my 2007 XTR snapped (Previous model XTR hubs are almost indestructible, the new ones are shite). Not too sure whether I'd trust it for trials, but it's beautifully made and works perfectly so far (A month or two's use). The pick up is only slightly better than a King as it has slightly more backlash before the hub engages... Sounds like I'm being chased by a horde of bees ... DrEvil270183
as everybody has said, its more engagement but using pawls and teeth system - teeth will be so small to get 120 in that they won't handle they way trials riders use the hub. I.e kicking down on cranks fast, on and off etc. The teeth will die and the hub will skip. And how ever mention going from hopes to king and not noticing a difference - I thought the same until I rode another bike with hopes, and couldn't get used to it due to difference in hubs lol. This is going from old hope xc, not the pro2.
thefletch
Have to agree, seeing as even Chris Kings are dangerous for trials use. They are very reliable and barely ever skip BUT, **** me when they do skip...it might as well be a chain snappage.
