JonMack
Right I've just swapped out my Echo Lite forks for Dob forks, the Dob forks are about 20mm shorter than the Lite forks so obviously it's going to bring the bar height down (also made the bb about +55ish rather than +65). When I had it setup before, it was comfortable, I was riding better, and I was generally happy with it, is it worth putting 20mm of stackers on the steerer to bring the bars up to a similar height, or should I just live with bars which are about 20mm lower? I don't want to spend any money, so new bars or stem are out of the question, setup is Dob forks, Ti stem, Onza carbon bars. I'm just a shade over 6ft, if that helps? Could anyone with a Dob who reads this measure their bar height for me? Also Ad if you read this, what's the height on your Hösel? Cheers, Jon
Adam-Griffin
Stackers, sounds better when you say i can sidehop bar height Try it with stackers and see which you prefer ?
BenLeacock™
20mm stacker will bring bar height back, but wont change bb ? Guess you can only go with trial and error ? see how you get on ?
JonMack
It's currently pissing it down so I can't ride, otherwise I'd probs just try it with low bars, and try it with higher bars, and see which is better... I could do it anyway, but it's gonna be a shit to setup cos of the sloped stem, meaning I probably won't be able to setup the headset properly... EDIT: Well yeah nothing will bring BB height back but I don't mind about that to be honest, stupid rain!! deanie-b
nothing will bring BB height back but I don't mind about that to be honest Just chuck some stackers in, you'll get used to the loss in BB height

Alex-Mitchinson
stupid rain!! Dual disk + Jacket = Test rideable Can't really help on the topic though, I would just give it some trial and error.
Al_Fel
Stick the echo forks back on lol. You could also try one of these bad boys. Not sure what headset you've got but i'm sure you could get an engineer to copy it for you with a few mm extra to compensate.
AdamR28
Well as the BB has gone down a bit you can afford to drop the bars the same amount (so they are the same relative height)... Although I would always go with decent height bars over 'looking better' personally! My bars are 955mm high to the top of my grips at the very end (measured by turning bike upside down and measuring to the 'tallest' point of my front tyre), BB rise is almost bang on 60mm. The axle height of the BB from the floor is 330mm so the 'relative' height of my bars compared with the BB is 625mm... if that helps at all/makes any sense! Oh, and my bars used to be 5mm higher but I just dropped them a bit. Ads
Walleee
Looks ugly no one will notice they will be looking at your gash frame. I joke - get a stacker on there!

I'd honestly say just play with spacers until it feels right though, Jon Work your way from a touch under where it is now, to around where it was before, and see if you find something that works Oh, and Ben, it'd be silly, but would work. Wouldn't be particularly nice mind!

I rode this even when it had dried up, rode with the 20mm and they felt rather high, rode with 0mm and they felt low, but nice, so I'm gonna go to the lbs tomorrow and pick up a 10mm spacer. Thanks for the help everyone

Luke Rainbird
I reckon a 7.03mm spacer would be more appropriate, obviously If you can wait, I have a couple of spare spacers I could wing your way? Oh, and if you would like to try the stack under the headset, grab me on MSN

AdamR28
Not the same as actual bar height when the bike's standing on 2 wheels then?I guess not, but it's much easier to get an accurate measurement that way.
Revolver
If they felt low but nice at 0mm, maybe a 5mm spacer would be better? You could get two 5mm ones and find out.
