TrialZonn
Hello everybody. I'm using Magura HS33 at the rear with a smooth rim and Adamant Pads. But when I use the brake, it doesn't make the common screaching sound... The Wheel stops but I don't know if the max stopping power is achieved (because I know that the brake must make some noise) Maybe I haven't set up the magura??? Revolver
The brake doesn't have to make noise to be working.
PaRtZ
The brake doesn't have to make noise to be working. + the rest of the forum Test if its good enough using a curb, gap to it and land short and see if it slips or not, then you'll know
psycholist
You may have found the holy grail of trials brake setups - a brake that locks the wheel properly but doesn't annoy non-trials riders around you by making noise... Try other people's brakes and see if you're getting the same hold though. Maguras with normal brake pads on a smooth rim are silent, but don't have the kind of savage wheel locking power needed to not get you killed landing big gaps to back wheel. Vee for the win woop And also your +rest of forum isnt right you'd be suprised how many tools on here depend on having a brake that makes noise and even if it holds like fook they won't like it. Tom_
Well, Im in search of an awsome brake that is silent, Im fed up of making masses of noise when I want to slow down when riding too and fro places etc. Tempted by dual disk, however I am convinced I will land on my rotor, Everyone says I wont But I land on the disk mounts on my pro 2 now and then and I know that because there scratched. Im not up for having to fork out 15quid every week or 2 for a new rotor
psycholist
I'd be interested in trying dual Formula ORO's on a trials bike - their bite seems to be pretty fierce (Based on three sets I've tried on people's XC/DH bikes) - the ORO K18's are cheaper than Hopes too. The temptation to get a dual disk trials bike to try it out is strong - mostly because I occasionally ride my bike at weird hours of the night in built up areas and would rather not piss everyone around off by making noise... gu trials
Have you tried using tar ? it wil make your pads stick better to the rim and make noise
TrialZonn
thanks for the information. My brake don't slip when I land on the rear wheel from a gap or curb... I witnessed that it slips only if I make a fairly long jump from a pedalkick and then land the bike almost horizontial.I don't know if the brake was supposed to lock in this situation because the momentum created from the move is fairly big. As for the disk brakes...My opinion is that a dual disk would have 100% lock but it would be heavier than a V or Magura Setup... It's very interesting to see a trials bike with dual disk (I haven't seen one yet) but that means that you must have the proper frame too... Revolver
Well, Im in search of an awsome brake that is silent, Im fed up of making masses of noise when I want to slow down when riding too and fro places etc. My solution for this problem is to have a noisy back brake and a quiet front brake, such as disc/hs33, which should give you a quiet front brake. Or an unground/untarred front hs33.
Guest
adamant pads are shit though. but, if your brake works well enough for you. why would it matter if it makes a noise?
