Well I am new to the trails biking world and from what i have encountered so far it is great fun. I have finally decided to get some cash together and get my own bike to start off with. Due to a few reasons I am limited to the cash i have to spend only got £350 ish and i have found 2 bikes that seem a good beginner bike. I am creating this topic in the hope that more experienced riders will be able to shine a light on which i should choose, or if there are any other viable alternatives.

The first bike is the 20" Yaabaa 449 Senior,

Yaabaa 449 senior

The second is the Onza T-Pro '08 ,

Onza T-pro 08

ps. Thanks for any help in advance that anyone can offer

You cant go far wrong with an onza . . .but getting a 2nd hand bike is a good idea because you wont be so worried about scratching the hell out of it and it will be better value for money

Yeah i got told this by a friend but after searching around on ebay etc i have not been able to come up with one, the main thing holding it back is they all require the bike to be collected and they wont post, as these are located to far away for me to travel i cant get them.

Go for the Yaabaa they are awesome!! Onza's suck!

Also is there any reason for this or is it just your personal opinion :) ? Also thanks for the replies so far.

Edit: The yaabaa bike is found at " http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=10 " , sorry the first link didnt work i must have made a mistake :( .

I personally prefer the Yaabaa as I looks much nicer and has better wheels etc... However you can't go wrong with an Onza and as I'm sure you will want to upgrade parts later the Onza will definitely be better, especially if you want to fit a magura. Ultimately it won't make a difference as they are both pretty generic bikes but if it was me I would go Onza.

P.s.

"Go for the Yaabaa they are awesome!! Onza's suck!" care to enlighten as to why.

I'll agree!

When I got my 07 T-comp (the model up from the T-pro) I ended up changing every component! Exept the cranks...

The hubs die quite quickly! The geo on the bar and stem sucks, and the geo and weight of the forks are real bad. Plus the frames are quite dated now to be honest.

Looking at that Yaabaa, I'd be happy with almost all of those parts on it - and for a beginer it'd be perfect!

The factor that seems to be cropping up is upgrading in the future, is the Onza so much better for this than the Yaabaa? Also am i right in thinking the most likely next upgrade will be towards the brakes of the bike ? or does it depend on how it feels for me :). Also i just found an Onza on ebay at the link

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Onza-t-pro-trials-bi...p3286.m14.l1318

It looks like it would be the ideal bike but after messaging the seller he will only let it go to a person who collects it in person and he cant meet me at the train station in nottingham, people these days :(.

Thats a great price for that, would be a really good starter bike and you would get better quicker.

You should get that! The stuff you'll upgrade on a standard T-pro has already been done, and its £150 - bargin!

Also It should never cost over £15 to send a complete bike, just so you don't get ripped off there.

I know its like the best bike for the price i have seen but the seller refuses to post it and i cant get to Nottingham, i even offered to go all the way down to Nottingham train station (Which would cost me like £45 ) and for them to meet me there with the bike but they refused, :( . Anyways it looks like i will be going for the Onza then, but from new since i cant find a second hand one :(.

Also you said it should never cost over £15 to send a full bike is that via royal main or another company?

Thanks for the help guys :)

Is it possible to fit a magura onto the Yaabaa, if anyone knows :) ?

Thanks for the help again all :D.

You could fit them, however you would have to use evo mounts instead of 4 bolt mounts. This means that some of the power will be lost and they will be a b**** to set up. Go for the onza.

As a complete bike I think the Yaabaa is a better buy, however if you are looking to upgrade (espeically the brakes) then the T-Pro is ideal (as I said via email, hehe).

Hehe :P I shall wait till you have the T-Pros in stock then I will probably end up ordering one :D. Thanks for all the help i think i have decided what to get now. Cheers all.
